Those are nice! I only have one M1 figure, which is a black unpainted Bullmark-style reissue Mecha-G, and I love it. Very nice quality.
About the black and red Godzilla there, is that black vinyl with red paint? Or red vinyl with black paint?

Red vinyl. Very nice. You gotta get more M1! I love them all. M1 is the way to GO! (sorry for the lame wordplay) Let's see some more M1s. Show your favorites!

Here's a new one I picked up the other day. I am just a sucker for metallic paints, and this has such a rich metallic green on the shell. Gamera (sorry, its in kind of a strange pose, so its hard to get good pics): Great detail on the belly: I especially love the header card (especially the blue reverse):

Dude, awesome! That 89 zilla is great. I don't know how I missed this thread before. Keep the M1 love going.

Can someone help me here? I dunno if it's just Me, or do many of you get the same feeling...
It's something about the paint-job in these beautiful specimens:
Why is it that whenever I look at These particular specimens I get that winter-Christmassy-candy-mint taste in my mouth?
I'm serious! ;D

That's because M1 uses such nice metallic paints! There's something about metallic paint jobs that gets me every time. Just look at the back of Gamera and at the spines of the Godzillas! Totally minty tasting.

LOL! See, it got you too! LOL!
I presume those had to have been air-brushed (literally) to get such bold metallic tones into the detail there. The colors gradiate so smoothly into one-another... ...even bootlegs couldn't look that good!
I've seen pics of classic vinyls from their time. But, there's something unique about These...
What's the most distinguishing factor about these items, is it the paint-job or their sculpts? And, are these percieved with the same nostalgic value as their vintage counterparts?

For me, its really a combo of the sculpts and paint applications. I've rarely seen an M1 sculpt that I didn't like. I can't say the same about most of the other manufacturers. In fact, in most other cases (except the vintage stuff), I dislike the vast majority of the sculpts. I guess its just a matter of personal taste. The only negative about the M1s that I see is that the rubber bands they use around the necks of their figures (to hold little M1 ID cards) always seems to disintegrate or melt on the figure. I'm not sure if its just the quality of the rubber bands or that there is some sort of reaction between the rubber and the vinyl that takes place.

Hmmm... rubber bands for the ID tags. Geez, why couldn't the manufacturers just use ordinary black string instead, like the way Bandai does with their small vinyls. Rubber bands do get quite brittle over time due to climate changes and room temperature differences; even when left alone.
These M1s have a modern appearance to them. Is the M1 a modern toy line all by itself, or is it a generation from a vintage-era toyline of that product?
The more I look at these, the more I feel inclined to start getting a few of these myself... I already have my Bandai Godzilla mini-vinyls (from Rite-Aid, and T.R.U.) and a couple large Godzilla KOs from an arab-owned 99cent store.... I think they'll be happy to have a few M1s hangin around. ;D

Be careful Tony. There lies the path to madness. The vinyl will eventually become an obsession for all that partake, and you will eventually become infected with the radioactive substances they use to produce the toys! But seriously, once you get one or two, you will want more. The old-school aesthetic is distilled into these M1 toys. Gotta love the sculpts, and the paint applications are outstanding. Just like a Lays potato chips, you can't have just one!

I believe that M1 is a newer company in the vinyl industry. They started producing vinyls around 1991 (according to Club Tokyo). Club Tokyo is a great reference site for kaiju toys. Here's the link for the standard sized M1s, and you can click the links on the left side for other sizes and for other manufacturers: www.clubtokyo.org/listings/subCatListingRpt.php?catID=1&subCatID=6Here's one of my favorite M1 sculpts - Matango!

@ Sketcher: I'm aware of the consequences from owning vinyls produced from radioactive resources... for the wages of such a sin is a Happy RJer. I am prepared to suffer the trials and tribulations of being a vinyl collector-- --that which cannot harm me will only make my display shelves grow bigger. And furthermore, these M1s really would make nice ornaments hangin in my christmas tree next year! ;D KingboyD: Thanks for the info and the links... I will look them up. When I do, I will wear the spacecruiser yamato goggles to protect my eyes from the blinding florescence of gradiant colors that will blast me upon arriving to those webpages. One must never explore without proper protection gear. ;D Those Matangos look really cool... the green one on the right reminds me of my long lost pet head of Lettuce that died last month of a brain inflammation. I loved it dearly. ;D Lemme guess: the Matangos are from the Ultraman series (don't know which UltraWhat, I've rarely watched any of the Ultraman stuff except my favorite "Ultra7 vs KingJoe" episode)... ...Guess#2: Matango is a toxic chemical monster similar to monster Gedorah. I can predict I'll end up scoring quite a few of these M1s, judging by their size I presume their body material seems quite light (not super-thick vinyl like most other vinyl figures) and don't weigh much when shipped... perhaps I can score many of them shipped in one box. zozo-Magengar

There's not much palatable on the island, but eating the shrooms has a detrimental effect on the people. A pretty cool flick, nothing extraordinaire, but the M1 vinyl Matangos have reached a cult level on the kaiju circuit.

;D Aaaah Yes, another fine nostalgic masterpiece. "BSS" friggin ROCKS! As for the Matangos, man that's gotta be some tripped-out sh*t being stranded on an island having to eat nothing but mushrooms... and turning into THAT! LOL Now There's a cool theme for an ELP song! ;D Titanosaurus looks friggin Badazz there! ...GRRRRRRRRR, ok, once I've relaxed a little bit with my Mazinger line I'll go ahead a start with an M1 and see how I can manage it-- I'd like to try completing the Godzilla vs Megalon M1 line if any Megalon, Gigan, and JetJaguar M1s exist. That will be my project for 2010. ;D zozo-Magengar Those Matangos look really cool... the green one on the right reminds me of my long lost pet head of Lettuce that died last month of a brain inflammation.
