Read again. A non-combining Voltes based on a non-combining Voltes anime. And no, Shin Mazinger changing into a giant fist was not appropriate. They could have made the God Scrander be the giant fist all on it's own - no need to add Shin Mazinger to the mechanism. It could have been yet another weapon, like the Giant Booster of Great Mazinger. You mention change. Why change something that was perfect anyway? The change could've come in the form of new animation, it didn't have to involve changing the mecha - just draw it and animate it better. Bandai wants something new, then make a NEW character and stop F&*$%^# with the original. And by the way, the same applies to the Transformers. That is my opinion about it. }D

but Shin Mazinger minus the God Scrander fist turning is still Mazinger Z itself....nothing has changed...IMO they've just "beefed up" Mazinger Z and added a new gimmick to make Mazinger Z into a more powerful Super Robot...i totally agree about Mazinger Z being a perfect Super Robot that is why Bandai did NOT want to move out from that perfect Mazinger Z design because it has been proven from decades...fans love the retro Mazinger design from what it is....its just that they added up something to him...to make him look menacing and more powerful.....its like the beatles doin the sgt peppers lonely hearts club band....lol while Voltes V and other combining robots like you mention is a totally different universe, the way they were know and love by fans is because they were combining robots but if you take that away, of course NOT "all" fans will accept it...but some of it will embrace the fresh "NEW" idea on why and how they did that.....

I kinda like the all-yellow Mazinger Z the best. Signifies Asian. Power. Yes. Okay. Carry on. Sorry.

But like you said about Shin Mazinger, a non-combining Voltes V would still be the same fighting robot. It will just not combine, sort of like Go-Shogun. But anyway, that was just an example on how perfect things should not be changed. Another would be having a new Transformers show where Optimus Prime doesn't transform. It would still be Optimus Prime, minus transformation. It will probably not do so well. But again, that is the way I see it. }D

What you don't seem to understand is that you still have your original Mazinger Z. The God Scrander doesn't take that away from you.
Besides, it's hardly the first time they've upgraded the Z...

ok how about this....Optimus Prime G1 era versus the Optimus Prime movie version (regardless wheter Shia Labeouf or Mark Wahlberg...it doesnt matter coz theyre both crappy anyway)....for me that is a complete & totally unforgiving re-design and make over ....

It's not like the God Scrander looks out of place on Mazinger Z, and the Big Bang Punch isn't even that drastic of a transformation. It's not like they tried to make a Megazord out of Mazinger or gave it realistic aesthetics - it's an attack that is more than appropriate in the Mazinger Universe. i could imagine how TMZ would react if someone would put a prank on his car and repainted it differently....dude where's my car??? lol anyway between the Red Energa Z and Shin Mazinger i would say that the later is much more true to the original Mazinger Z concept....plus i hate the Red color scheme....but i dont mind someone giving me one for chirstmas...Energa or Energer Z seems to fit the festive season perfectly....lol

Assumption is the mother of all F&*$%^# ups. Keep it on subject and don't stray into personal please. But again, I disagree. It was a crazy "upgrade" to Mazinger. Well, at least it's not really Nagai's Mazinger, but a Ken Ishikawa design. Like I said, there was no need to touch Mazinger's design/specs at all for the God Scrander... which by the way, I think it looks horrible on Mazinger. Leave the bat wings for the Shin Getters. }D

There was no need for that. They could've translated the G1 anime Optimus into a CGI realistic looking robot without screwing with the design so much. }D

Yeah.
I don't quite like the bat-scrander of Shin, either. The fist-gimmick is meh.

The best Soul of Chogokin Mazinger Z is the one its owner likes the most. The best engineered Soul of Chogokin Mazinger (not "Z" - since Shin Mazinger is not the same as the classic Mazinger): The GX-45. The best looking Mazinger: depends on Classic or New. Classic, I would still say the GX-01R, but only because the GX-01R+ does not have all the stuff the regular "R" comes with. Modern, the GX-45. And mind you, there are two modern (Shin) Mazinger versions in the SOC line - the GX-45 and GX-49. They are the same character, but not the same design. Recolors were not included... }D

TMZ, I'm surprised that you haven't already modified a GX-45 with parts from a GX-01R to turn Shin Mazinger into Mazinger Z. ... I did! But I want to repaint it into showroom glossy colors. I gave it an "iron" look initially, and while it kooks good, I rather have it shiny instead. }D
