I hear you, bro. Still, they look damn Good! I work in a sign shop. Whenever my boss throws away scrap vinyl no matter, I ALWAYS grab the scraps and save them. I usually save the solid color vinyls. The metallic vinyls are too delicate to work with, but they make a custom figure look good. I take the scraps home and store them... I never know when I'll feel like re-stickering any of my figures. ;D " Eeeeevery scraaap is saaaaa-cred Eeeeevery scraaap is saaaaved... Iiiiif the crap gets waaaaasted, Gooo-kins get Iraaaaate!"(singin it Monty Python style, heheheh)zozo-Magengar I like that Voltron, man you are really good at this and the Voltron's details look really crisp and tight! Scraps like old magazine paper would also be collected by me for repairing the Jumbo Machinders, if the color match. No one discover that the JMs are repaired with those old magazine paper.

No one discover that the JMs are repaired with those scraps!!! And this is why when I was sent the link to this thread, I thought "great work, but I wish people wouldn't do it". Even if you're not intentionally trying to deceive people, sooner or later these things will end up in the hands of someone who doesn't know any better and they'll be sold as original when they are not. I've been collecting monster stuff the last year or two and it's a real problem in that hobby. It's nearly impossible to tell what's real or isn't anymore. I don't want to see it happen here, too.

What I have been fixing are only for my own collection, or, I fixed them for my friends......They all know how I do it and they just appreciate my work...... However, if my friends are selling the JMs which were fixed by me, I can't control how they describe the items to their buyers........It's just like people selling knives can't control whether the people are using the knives in kitchen / to rob people........ I haven't been selling any of my fixed JMs but if I do so, I will notify my buyers that some of the parts are not original ones. I would like to clarify that what I'm doing is just to restore those JMs back to their perfect condition......but not to deceive people intentionally.

Again, I'm not implying that you are intentionally trying to deceive anyone, but if you dropped dead tomorrow, will the person handling your estate know that these are reproductions?
At the end of the day, the fact remains that there are now fakes where before there were no (or fewer) fakes. And that's a very bad thing, imo.
I'm not 100% against reproductions of any kind. In fact, I have some in my own collection.. But I would like to see an alteration in any that are made, so that they will look nice, but be clearly distinguishable from originals. For example, I have a loose Kamen Rider X and a friend has promised to make me a reproduction box since the original is very rare and I'll likely never be able to get just a loose box. But if he does, I really want him to alter it so that it says something like "Fan made reproduction" on it somewhere, maybe add a big "R" next to the 4 on the cover so that it is clearly different. That way I have something nice to display, but if it ever ends up in the market place, no one will buy it thinking it's something that it's not.

I understand your point, Nekrodave, and I'd have to agree with you. The market is so saturated with a mixture of repros and authentics that buyers (and hardcore collectors) have a hard time distinguishing between the two. Even those of lesser knowledge of the item get screwed. But then, it seems that way in the auto-dealer business, too. (By stating this last line I don't mean to poke fun at the discussion) And I also believe Kitsir is sincere with what he's doing, and that he's not doing it to persue financial nor commercial gain. After all that work he puts into his jumbos, I can't imagine him just selling it off right away. When you put a lot of work into your hobby, it's very difficult and very emotional to part with it after all that it's meant for you. On the other hand, If I happen to buy a jumbo that was repro'ed by a fan, I'd appreciate the item even more since the fan put so much work and talent into it.... and I'd buy it Knowing that status of the item before-hand, and I'd get to know the fan Before I buy it. In my opinion, I view this differently. Now if it were some scalper selling repros at a fleamarket, I'd sniff him/her out on the spot and walk away. All in all, some interesting points were raised here; Nice conversation piece! zozo-Magengar
