Bandai and Disney are in the middle of remastering, remaking, and reissuing MMPR for 2010. Starting this Winter Bandai will begin rolling out a new series of super articulated figures, Zords, vehicles and roll play toys based on the original Rangers, then in January Disney will begin airing a remastered version of the original MMPR TV series on ABC Kids (expect some changes, it seems Disney doesn't have the rights tot he original MMPR songs). Rumored for later in the year is reissues of the original Zord figures and a new animated series. Read about the plans for MMPR and a movie contest hosted by Bandai as well as the first look at the new Blue and Pink Ranger figures in the official press release! I'm really looking forward to this. Back in '93 I was 13 and in that phase where buying toys wasn't cool anymore, but I never missed an episode. I'm looking forward to a new chance to own the characters. Emerje

looks like shinkenger was too japanese to bring to the states.....
but this really good news indedd..i was wondering why they never make a reissue of the megazords, because these sell very well. anyway im looking foward to exact reissues of the megazord, dragon zord and titano carrier too.

looks like shinkenger was too japanese to bring to the states..... GROWL!!! i'm so mad! I waited for Boukenger, only to have BOA to frak it up. Then i didn't wait for Gekiranger, only for Bandai to make a near exact same figure(without lights, which i could care less about) but paid twice the amount...so i didn't get Shinkenger hoping to get the cheaper version in the USA...GRRRRR!!!!! BOA hates me!

wow... I don't know whether to totally peeved that MMPR is coming back without the original Mighty RAW soundtrack (face it, it's one of the most iconic theme songs of our time)... or whether I should be jumping for joy that the Yellow Saber-toothed Tiger Ranger finally gets breasts on her action-figure!

I found something I wasn't expecting at Target today: I don't know how long these have been out, but I was pretty psyched to find it. Seems like a good deal for $20. They also had a new role-play Dragon Dagger with some sort of extending blade gimmick. It looked kinda lame. Seems like it has a new combination gimmick where the new Dino-Cycles can also become limbs. More (and non-cameraphone) pics to follow!

Wow... cool find! Looks like a new mold (proportions on the legs look different; slimmer... and the hips look like they can pose a bit more too). How's the size? Now to dig out my original MMPR DX Megazord and try to spot the differences.

He's about 10.5 inches to the top of his head spikes. There are a lot of changes -- none of the Zords are identical to the original version. It can still form the inbetween-mode tank form, which is cool. It isn't in any of these photos, but he does still come with the Power Sword. It's soft plastic and kinda nerfed, but I'm pretty sure it actually has more of a point than my old MMPR one did. There's also a sticker sheet included, which is nice - although the stickers could have been designed to fit the toy a little better. The Tyrannosaurus seems the closest, but it has a wider angled stance now, pegs on his knees, strong ratchet joints in the legs instead of the old push-button lock, the tip of the tail isn't hinged anymore, and I think the compartment for the dinosaur head works a little differently. The Triceratops and Sabertooth Tiger seem like essentially scaled down versions with few other changes, excepting the connectors for the new pegs. The Triceratop's tail is all one piece now too, so the cannons can't be aimed. The Mastodon is also pretty close to the old version, but seems to have more hollow parts than I remember the old one having. The trunk has a fixed position now, and the tusks are angled out instead of straight. The back limbs/Megazord arms are now detachable, too. The cannons that attach to its feet/the Megazord's back are way smaller than they used to be. The Pterodactyl seems to have more of a scoop to it, but otherwise seems pretty close. My camera battery died while I was shooting, so this is all I've got for now. I'll try to get some shots of the individual Zords soon. Any specific requests? I'll be back at home in ~2 weeks, so I can do some side-by-side shooting with the original.

;D ;D ;D ;D LMAOF! Dude, ya just made me sneeze my Pepsi! ;D I gotta strap myself to a chair before I go ballistic and start smashin stuff... I never really liked Power Rangers (except for a few episodes which had some really Cool PR mechas). Their themesong music sounds like a theme opening for Jeopardy. ;D The 1975 classic Goranger series, Battlefever J, and Gatchaman are about as close to toku/sentai as I wanna get. But, this is cool for folks of this era. Every generation needs their own favorite icons and super-whatever heros and mechas. zozo-Magengar wow...

The Jeopardy theme? I gotta say, I'm really not hearing it. I agree with Ben-Ohki, it is pretty iconic for my generation. Sure, it's a bit cheesy, but lets be honest...what on this board isn't a little cheesy? To each their own, though. Anyway, I snapped a few more shots. First up is a size comparison with the Retrofire version: And some shots of the individual Zords: I also managed to find a few of the figures at Wal-Mart a few days ago. Sadly passed on Goldar, the sculpt was kinda strangely bug-eyed. These figures are smaller than I'm used to (around 4"), but nicely detailed and fairly poseable - except for Alpha 5. He's pretty much just got some cut joints, and can't move much. Oh well, he was awkward in the show too. Trini comes with her two Power Daggers, a Blade Blaster, and a kinda odd non-canon thing, which she can either stand on or wear on her back. The Blade Blaster has a peg to mount on her belt. The weapon sculpts are nice (you can even make out the sabretooth power coin image on the daggers), but they're all a little too big scale-wise. It's too bad that they're solid black, too. Alpha comes with a Zordon head in a tube, which can be filled with water. Pretty disappointing, but maybe some blue water and a little paint could make it workable. I wonder if they based it off the movie? Finally, the Putty comes with the Power Blaster, the combined form of the first five ranger's weapons. It's nice, but mine was pretty bent up out of the box. It also has some sort of Blade Blaster combination that I don't remember seeing before...maybe it was only in the Sentai version?

yesterday i spotted the MMPR male figures that morph into dragons and griffens (Dragon for Red, Griffen/bird for Black, etc..can't recall the rest) VERY much reminded me of the Magiranger USA figures that did the same

a friend of mine manage to get the Megazord. now that i look at it up close and personal i must say it looks nice, i like that it doesnt look blocky like the original one but the new joint that they add it to the T-rex knees and some coloration issues seems to not impress me. As for articulation, i was expecting they could have done something better at least for the arms to open to the side or the head to look around. but overall its a nice figure and with the price it has its not a bad deal. i think ill buy 2, one for collection purposes and the other to go under the knife.

OMG...i just finished watching the first episode... All i can think of is TRANSFORMERS G2 with all the annoying little extras. I wonder what kids they got to photoshop the little extras in? Hurrican Kick...graphically annoying images mixed with Batman 1966 POW! WHACK! BLAM!

Thanks for reminding me to check Youtube... I have seriously mixed feelings about what I just saw (the opening credit sequence). I'm so pleased to hear the familiar "theme music" is back. I don't know what's up with the crap going on behind the scenes about The Mighty RAW not getting along with the production team and leaving and then coming back from time to time and then leaving again... but it seems like he's being professional and taking a "it's just a job" attitude (which is cool for us fans). So however Disney got their hands on the original theme song, it's good that they did.
As for the "G2" extras... man that was weird. When I saw the "Go! Go!" text plastered over the screen I was like, "this is a joke, right?"

I really hope they release the Thunder Megazord in the Retrofire Line. That has always been my favorite Megazord of them all (and of course, one of the only two Megazords that actually get destroyed in the series)...!

I'm really disappointed that Bandai had to undo so many years of progress by giving the Megazord stickers :-(. Despite that setback I'm still hoping for a Dragonzord release, Titanus I can do without but with the Green Ranger being so popular a Dragonzord just has to happen.
I picked up a few of the 4" figures and decided that they weren't really for me, so I'm going to sell them and just focus on the Megazords.
