Ok Coldiron suggested to make a new thread for ideas for the next fundraw.
I know I have yet to participate but I love looking at the subbmissions.
My idea is to have your favorite robot/s doing normal everyday activities. I have seen a bunch of gundams in a bar playing pool, or even playing basket ball........ stuff like that.
I also saw an idea for household items turned mecha. That sounds like fun too.

so is this gonna be a photo-editing FD kinda thing??? I think it could be, if that's how you wanted to do it. Past contests have said that other media than drawing are a-ok, so I don't see why this one should be any different. But drawing, sculpting, traditional photography or whatever else should be fine too. Correct me if I'm wrong though, coldiron/mods/whoever else is in charge. I really like all the ideas put out so far, but my vote goes for robots doing mundane activities. There are so many different angles to approach that one, we should get some really diverse submissions. I hope we can get the topic decided by Sunday, so we can start as soon as November begins. I need all the time I can get >_>

Hmmm..the "Frankenstein" Robots from the previous brainstorm thread is good as well.
Mix and match parts from different mechas,,

What about designing original mechas or redesigning classic mechas according to the Zodiac Signs or the Chinese Animal Zodiac (2010 will be Tear of the Tiger)?

I posted this suggestion in a previous brainstorm thread. It didn't get picked for a fundraw, but I like it, so...
Redesign a good robot as an evil one, or vice-versa. Better yet, do both in the same submission (ex: good Garada K vs evil Mazinger Z666).
Another one : "Everything's better with giant robots". Take a movie or series that doesn't feature a giant robot and throw one in there. Anything. The more illogical, the better. Ninja Turtles; Gone with the Wind; My Little Poney; The Good, the Bad and the Ugly; Seinfeld; Spider-Man... Could be hand-drawn or a Photoshop montage.
A spin-off of that theme : Chogokin Renaissance, giant robots invading great works of arts like Rodin's, Michaelangelo's (the one who's not a mutant turtle), or even more modern works like Andy Warhol's.
edit : typo-busting galore

Hmm, I really like the "Everything's better with giant robots" idea too. It could be fun as a video editing challenge, beyond just still images.
...Now I keep hearing "frankly my dear, I don't give a damn" in Optimus Prime's voice.

The winner needs to take over this thread and make some choices.

so winner chooses next topic........ couldnt that be a lil bias?
I like these "Everything's better with giant robots" and "Chogokin Renaissance"
Actually the first one could apply for the second idea as well as many others. You can put robots in movies or any scene including paintings, or doing mundane tasks. Of course maybe its too general i dunno but sounds good to me.
Also, i think all forms of art should be considered as long as its your own work. This would include but not limited to, photo editing and chopping, actual models and sculptures, and of course, toys in action.
Ideally I'd like to have each divided inot categories but i guess that depends on whoever is in charge of this and the number of actual entries.

My two "giant robots hijacking other works" submissions could be merged, I wouldn't have a problem with that, but I think throwing the "robots doing mundane tasks" theme in the same bowl would be stretching it. It's a fun idea, but I don't think they're similar enough to be merged into one fundraw. Like you said, it would become too general.
As for the medium, I agree with opening the competition to all forms of creativity. But categories would not really be a necessity, IMO. It could be some kind of "Ultimate Arting Championship".

so winner chooses next topic........ couldnt that be a lil bias? Not bias. That's just been the rules they have been doing the FDs by. That's sort of the prize, winner organizes and picks the next FD. Though when the winner is too busy or is not around enough to organize it, someone else (usually the top 2 & 3) takes it over to organize it, however rules can always change, especially since the winner has not been really active in this thread.
