What do you think of the new Energon Transformers series.... I don't think I've aquired the taste yet. Tastes like caster oil.

Personally I'm looking forward to it (although does anyone know release dates for here in th UK or Japan?). There are several cool looking protos I've seen pics of like Megatron and Rodimus Prime, and I like the Brave-like combining-ness of Hotshot, Ironhide and Jetfire and indeed, yes I know he's not to everyones tastes but, Optimus himself. I'm not impressed with the Armada repaints and some of the basic line like Battle Ravage, but I suppose you can't like everything. So, to sum up, I'm excited by the possibilities.

I've just seen wicked new proto pics of Megatron, Jetfire and Rodimus plus a new character, Landmine. I really reckon these boys are gonna be amazing.

I'd heard UK release dates on Transformers were usually 6 months to a year behind US ones. I could well be wrong.
I'm not that taken with Energon so far, but I've not really seen that much of them. I suspect much like Armada I'll be considering this on a case by case basis.

I know they are showing an open order in the TRU computers...I'd say about a month or so and they'll be hitting the shelves.

I was able to see some prototypes and the Energon Megatron has an AMAZING sculpt in robot mode. The toy is just HUGE at over 12" tall as a robot. Lindmine has a great deal of promise but seemed overly complicated.....we will see when the production toy comes out.
Finally I was surprised how small Rodimus was. Especially compared to the rest, his 6 inch-ish frame seemed tiny. His robot mode, though, shined as looking stellar.

Just got Hotshot and Inferno from Hong Kong. HAven't had aproper play yet and haven't combined them but initial impressions are that it kicks Armada 'tween the legs and then runs off laughing. Very exciting indeed.

I've had a good play with them now (in fact I can't stop) and I have to say that they are truly wicked (if the rest of the line keeps up this standard, then it's gonna be a very exciting series). Of the two toys, Inferno is slightly weaker having a more "kiddie" look to his vehicle form, also his head is obvious in his vehicle form being placed on top of the truck with just a two part visor to cover his face. His robot mode is better, but a bit plain looking witha slightlyt portly look to his torso. Hot Shot is much better in vehicle form, being about the same size of car as his Armada version but with the added bonus of a real world look that includes opening doors and bonnet (inside of which is a moulded engine). His robot mode is wonderful, perhaps his shoulders are a little narrow and maybe he has a slightly dopey look on his face, but all in all a really nice sculpt (and nice smooth transformation between the modes two with just enough complexity). But the true wickedness of these toys (and Isuspect with the whole line) is the combining features. These guys simply look great together. Instead of reading a description, you should just take a look (try Remy's world for some nice gallerys: tfkenkon.com/collection/act157/tfkenkon.com/collection/act158/ ) There are a couple of issues with them combined: Powerlink Hotshot doesn't have properly molded hands and Powerlink Inferno's legs and head just kinda stick o ut a bit awkwardly from the main robot, but given there size and cheapness the engineering involved is really impressive. Personally I'm not gonna buty any more Energoin toys, but only coz I want to get the Jap Superlink versions instead, but I recommend you check some of these boys out as soon as possible.
