LOl what a way to start off a review. Unfortunately, I don't know how true this statement is because I have never watched the show (or any of the Kamen Rider shows actually, well except for Americanized Dragon knight lol). Anyway, he's apparently a secondary character in Kamen Rider Kiva actually.
I won't go into any more detail so you can read more about him here if it pleases you.

Now on with the show.
Another stellar release from Bandai's S.H.Figuarts line! The line boasts detail with fairly impressive articulation. Figures of this line consist of pvc with some ABS and a tad touch of diecast (in the feet only). As you can see, IXA is definitely well detailed.
I can't wait to match him up to the SIC IXA!
As with most Kamen Rider's he has a belt buckle which gives him his power, as well as several chips that grant him different abilities when in battle called Fuestles.
Yeah, expect these to pop off a lot during play though lol.
Weapons include; Ixa Belt, Ixa Knuckle, and the Ixa Caliber
Be warned that the Ixa Caliber (the gun) will stretch out his gripping hands and he won't be able to wield the Knuckle very well.
As for articulation, if you have any SH figures then you know what you're in-store for. He has a lot, the most notable joints not present in most figures are the double torso joints, ball in socket wrists joint, and multi axis ankle joints. So he's very capable of performing and holding a lot of dynamic poses. However, vertical movement in the legs are limited due to how they try to hide the joint at the hip/thigh. In-fact, if they allowed you to rotate that joint you would get a lot more movement out of it. As it stands he can barely get 90 degrees out of it, but no big deal, he just won't be doing any high kicks anytime soon.
His head is also a bit restricted (he can't look up too high) due to its size, they could of added an additional joint to the base of the neck to help alleviate this but I was surprised that this was not the case, maybe next time lol.
Like I said before, he is capable of holding a lot of poses, and that means on his own two feet. Balancing is a bit tricky due to his diecast feet, and the fact that those joints in his feet and ankle are stiff as hell (they are with all the SH and Armor plus line that use this type of diecast joint system, though). Therefore you really got to take the time to adjust the feet properly depending on the pose you are aiming for. At least they are sturdy as hell, I assume they wanted to lessen the chance of the joints becoming loose over time.
As for gimmicks, He has the ability to go into his burst mode as well as producing the sword from his Ixa caliber.
Burst mode is achieved by part swapping of course, but it's a real pain. The ball joint is very small on the neck and the socket on the head lies deep within his head. Second, the ball joint is part of a double joint, so it constantly folds out of place, lining them up is a chore.
Overall, if you're a fan of Kamen rider and/or this series you should pick him up. Actually, with the news of a SIC version on the horizon, you may want to wait for that, it won't be as poseable (or as durable) but it will be more detailed (plus comes with dark kiva). Had I of known of the SIC version I would of passed this one, but now that I have it, I'm quite happy with it, plus i can now display both forms of Ixa.
BTW there is one more form of Ixa, Rising Ixa which is available via tamashii web shop for preorder. Wasn't too fond of it so it's a pass for me............ now on with more action pics! Enjoy!
Now every Kamen rider has some sort of jump kick right? Well so does Ixa though not in this form, oh well, time for Ikasuuuuuuuuuuuu kiiiiiiiiiiickkkkkkkkkkaaaaaaaaaa
I think he scored a 9.5/10 don't you?
