I continually find myself with the Beagle / Toynami Cyclone in my hand, and even after all these months I'm still in awe of the exceptional quality and engineering that went into making this figure. At the same time, because it is such a complex piece it leads me to some odd conclusions about the cyclone in general. After seeing the CM and the Miraclehouse basically fail, and then see what the Beagle version has done to succeed, the thought that always comes to mind is that it's crazy this toy was ever made. In fact, I might go as far as to say that the Cyclone wasn't meant to be made, figuratively speaking, and that it's really not a toy in any capacity other than appearance. Calling the Cyclone a transformer is like calling a car a box. It's certainly not for the fair weather collector. I remember my first transformation of the Beagle taking me around three hours, and there were a couple of times where I got the sensation that I was lost at sea, but then it actually worked! And after that initial transformation, it's now fairly easy. The end result is that I appreciate this figure and Beagle in the hugest way, and this is where I have to give Beagle the best compliment I could ever give any figure, being that this toy was done right. The full extent of what this means goes far beyond any other figure I've ever handled, because there is so little room for error on the Cyclone, and it's not just a matter of correct engineering for the formed pieces, it's also having the right kind of materials in the right place in order to maximize the figures ability to function and to survive the transforming process without breaking. Even with its complexity, this thing holds up like a beast, which certainly cannot be said for the Miraclehouse or the CM versions. It's a damn shame that there won't be any other figures made from the Beagle engineering and sculpt if only because this is the version of the Cyclone that deserved to be bought. To quote the immortal words of AC/DC: "For those about to rock, I salute you"!

The Beaglenami Cyclone/Ride Armor really is an amazing figure. I have both of the releases that made it out and I'm proud of it. It does kill me that no more will ever get made - a Hoquet would have been amazing, as would a Yellow. The toys as a whole are an amazing piece of work. Totally worth getting, in my mind.

Haven't transformed my Cyclone in ages... Actually, I only transformed it twice, takes too long to transform, I would need to take a day off to do so. Love it to death though. Crazy engineering.

I am really bummed they will never complete this set. I really love it. Did it not sell well??

I don't think it sold near as well as it could have because of CMs and Miraclehouse versions that both came before the Beagle. By the time the Beagle was released it seems a lot of people had already spent their money on these other two, and being frustrated didn't want to go any further trying to get a good version. It's too bad.

I didn't buy a Beagle because I already had the CM's toy and I'm satisfied with that. In terms of size and looks it's exactly what I want to represent a ride armor in my collection. The Beagle looks great, but I'm not a big enough fan of the mech to justify getting another one. Same reason I didn't buy a Megahouse.

This is a really awesome toy. I couldnt have imagined they would get it right with only one try. When one looks at the yamato valks and the amount of times they usually need to get things right and with less complex designs. One thing i would like to know is if beagle is just a small company or if it is funded or perhaps a branch of some industry heavyweights. If they are just a small independent company it would make things even more impressive.

That is a gorgeous toy well deserving the title Toy of the Year. Admit-tingly, at this time, it is the best representation of the cyclone robotech armor.
Having said that I think its release timing weighted down its sales. In essence everyone either had the vintage Gakken version or the CM or Mega House version prior to this release.
If I didn't already have the Gakken version I would have snapped this up in a heartbeat.
Though I do have my reservations in actually buying it as technically it is more of a doll in line with Medicom stuff than it is an actual robot, i dare not cross that line as I know it would just wreak havoc on my wallet.
Obviously, I wouldn't pass it up, if I happen to come across it at 50% off.
However, due to other chogokin priorities my Gakken cyclone will have to do.

i'm thinking of getting one. How is the weight and feel in your hands? reviews for this are very scarce. The weight is good. There's diecast in the assorted struts and support bars, but that's academic as most of the weight comes from the sheer density of the figure with all of the various moving parts, hinges, and things that fit inside other things. The bike rolls nicely and feels solid, as does the figure. When unarmored, the base figure is fairly light but very poseable and well balanced. Some of that poseability (and all of the balance) is lost when you put the armor on, but that's inevitable considering the design. I did a review, long, long, ago, here: robotjapan.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=macrossrobot&thread=13704&page=3#151264

i just bought a beagle scott benard version but the head with helm is way loose and doesn't fit into the neck socket at all. its like scott had broke his neck and couldn't hold his head up at all.
can anyone advise me on what to do on this case?

The overly loose neck ball joint on the Beagle version of this mold is unfortunately common (and as a result, possibly for the first time ever, Toynami gets to say they have the better QC release of a toy). Fortunately, since it's a ball joint, you can cope with it pretty easily by layering some tape on the inside of the head's socket joint, or building up the thickness of the socket with layers of nail polish, superglue, or future floor polish.

I totally slept on the Scott Bernard version and regret it like crazy. I may just have to settle on getting the Rand version as consolation.

If it's any consolation, the QC and fitment on the Rand is even better than the Scott version (not that the Scott version was a slouch, Rand just fits together s teensy bit better and his cloth suit is a bit bulkier so it doesn't end up with stretch marks)

I think I'm going to pull the trigger on Rand now before I lose 2 great opportunities. Is it really true that Toynami/Beagle have cancelled this series? Or is there a chance for Blowsperior/Lancer Volume 3 in the horizon?

Yeah sadly it's true, Beagle has gone out of business and all the prototypes have been sold so unless another company starts from scratch we're not gonna see anymore Cyclones.

I hope whoever brought the prototypes will continue to develope it. It is a fine piece of figure especially the last 2 Cyclones for Rook & Lance. Except for the screw hole on the neck I really like the Cyclone a lot.

Except for the screw hole on the neck I really like the Cyclone a lot. The molds weren't purchased - just the prototype for Fuke, which went to a private collection and never had any steel molds cut. The molds probably suffered the fate of most defunct steel molds and were melted down for scrap. Sad.
