So what are everyone's thoughts on this? www.figure.fm/post/en/9155/Real+Grade+Scale+for+Gundam.htmlDo you think its just a new line, or do you think it might replace MG? The price of these seem to be what MG was several years ago. I was thinking maybe since gunpla is getting more expensive they were launching this to keep it affordable. I tend not to buy anything lower then MG. There are very few HG kits I have purchased, and the Loto twins are the only 1/144 I have ordered. It seems the quality of all the lines has jumped up some since I first started buying these in the 90s. I liek the first design, but I am not a huge fan of the rx78 so I am holding out for any other new versions launched. I guess if people want to share RH news here, this would be the place for it.

I think I'm going to pick this up, just so I can have an Rx-78 for my desk at work

This will not replace MG because its 1/144 it may replace HG (which now represents 1/144 scale) also the interior is less detailed. I think this maybe restircted to RX-78 but I hope not.
I have noticed that Bandai is paying more attention to articulation (especially in ther mg and figure lines (RD, SHFA) so this is a good thing regardless.

Yeah, I am all for improving the whole range of the line, especially when some of the mecha designs I like only come in the lower grades.

Looking at the latest pics, it appears to have a inner "stick" frame that has high range of articulation, then there is another layer that is the inner mechanical frame. finally the armor our skin that is separated into many pieces along panel lines. The torso can use the articulated frame or replace with the core fighter. The chest vent blades look to be photo etch like material. Add all those together, looks to be a very detailed model in a small 1/144 size. I don't think this will replace the HG or HGUC line (which just expanded to HGAW and HGFC lines versions) since this RG is much too detailed to have regular releases like HG or HGUC. I guess the next RG could be the Zaku, then Bandai can make numerous versions out of the RX-78 and Zaku base design. I can't wait to see the release photos and instructions. I will have to add this one to my collection. ngeekhiong.blogspot.com/2010/05/rg-1144-gundam-rx-78-2-new-images.html

I think there are too many lines already.... Bandai is just trying to make even MORE money off the same mechs. Quite annoying actually....

you do have a point there q..... but i do like improved versions of old mechs..... but what i can do with out, is twenty two repaints of the same exact model.

Hmm... master grade Gundam at 1/144 Scale?
Maybe an attempt to lure out collector / hobbyist with severely limited space looking for better quality / more complicated than HG models?

I'll give you that. =D And what do you mean... you don't like all the different versions of the MG unicorn? LMAO

Ohayo, mina! (Morning, all!) Really looking forward to this RG Gundam, and it does, in fact, look like we'll be seeing a Zaku II version of this sometime in 2010. Seriously though, the new pics from this weekends hobby show are stunning...I mean they are trying to pack an enormous amount of detail in this thing. I'm also a sucker for box art and this is sexy boxartz! lol! ;D Simple yet elegant! Check out the pre-made internal skeleton: ngeekhiong.blogspot.com/2010/05/rg-1144-gundam-rx-78-2-others-from_13.html

It does look like a mini MG, doesn't it? Yeah, I was just thinking that. It really does in a way. I'm totally looking forward to building one of these. As someone mentioned earlier, this is one of those kits that isn't going to take up a lot of space on the display shelf, and as such, not much space on my work bench either! EDIT: We're also getting a Dengeki Hobby Exclusive 1/144 scale hanger accessory in the 9.2010 issue, available July.

why does this look like a SHCM pro model....... wonder if it will surpass that little wonder of mechanical design and functionality..... i do like this sculpt much better than the action figure and its sure to be cheaper too.

it looks to much like the super hcm pro i might as well buy that as it is already finished and highly detailed and painted. i do like customizing and all but i just am not to sure about this, i am guessing the Zaku will probably look like the SHCM Pro as well

...a MG kit with HG size....the small size is quite a turn down for me....the internal skeleton reminds me of STIKFAS figures....but I must admit the built figure looks awesome.

RG, MG and PG represent the best in each scale, lets say HG will now be the "non grades" of the 1/144 scale gundam moldes just like MG and 1/100 nongrade
