Hi,
Anyone around who has the GFFMC Unicorn? I have it in MG grade, but wondering if it is worth (since it is very expensive) to get one?
The painting, is it real painting or? The weight etc?
Thanks in advance!

Links to photo reviews start near the bottom of page 6 on this thread: robotjapan.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=Gundam&action=display&thread=15222&page=6Is it worth it? If you've never messed around with modern generation gokin toys then you're in for a shock (heck I was into gunpla for years before I bought my first Soul of Chogokin). I was both instantly in love with its sheer solidness (because compared to kits, the kits may as well have been paper!) but also hating it for how small it was (because also compared to kits, they're so much more expensive but still about the size of 1/100 Gundams). But is the Unicorn worth it? It was for me. It's not paint - but the white plastic has a pearl sheen on its surface and the markings are printed on - this is not a kit: it's a fully transforming robot toy from the Unicorn mode to the Destroy mode (the only kit-like parts-swapping is to remove and reattach some panels on the head because they're too small to have been on hinges). Weighs quite a bit... as you would expect a figure made mostly of metal would be at that size...

yeah its a fantastic figure, but if you have the mg kit (espeically if you painted it) you dont really need to have this, though it does come with the gatling gun accessory. I sold my MG kit in favor of this as its as good as a painted model kit. It has a nice heft to it and parts dont go flying off whenever you try to handel it like the model kit. The joints are solid as ever. One down fall, the crappy stand it came with is not strong enough to support the figure over time. Mine is slouching over like crazy and im surprised it hasnt snapped yet. I have no idea what bandai was thinking using a cheap plastic stand like that to hold such a heavy figure.

The GFFMC line is great for those of us that are mediocre and lacking in model building skills. For professional mosellers that have hundres of dollars in modelling equipment, the GFFMC line probably doesn't appeal that much to them, since the are already built and ready to display. but you gotta like how solid it is, doesn't fall apart when you move it around in transformation, like most model kits. And if you aren't that into building the kits, after purchasing these made figure, it might turn you off on all kits. I have pretty much quit building models because the GFFMC Unicorn looks good, is solid and no matter how hard I try in building the MG verions, it will not be as good. Likewise, the daizenguar and aussenseiter SRW kits, why build those when I can buy the SRC version, which probably holds up better. I have recently remove the Daizenguar and Aussenseiter Koto kits from my display and place the SOC version to replace them. Sure it cost around 10x more but I can't never built any thing close to the SOC version.

Guys, do you know what´s the difference between the standard GFFMC Unicorn and the newly released Prism Coating version? Is one purely white plastic (like the ZPlus) and the other painted in some way?

Here, all credit to Toysdaily.com, are some comments between #1008 and #1006. 1) www.toysdaily.com/discuz/thread-141246-1-2.html2) www.toysdaily.com/discuz/thread-141147-1-2.htmlHope it will help you decide. I have #1006, had thoughts to get #1008, but finally stay with the one I have. For those money and only getting a little bit more glossy and shiny touch ... I say no.

Yeah Mr. NikoDiablo, I just saw that on HLJ Yesterday! Looks like a pretty good deal.
I don't know much about that Unicorn Gundam series (other than the attractive mechs); the last one I watched was Double O.

What's exactly transforming on that thing? Isn't it just a matter of "stretching" the figure to reveal the colored parts?

There's a fair amount of panels and such that open up and pivot and move and the like to reveal all the underbody paneling, and it's actually fairly clever in its design (at least, on the MG Model kit that I have). If you want to put it simply, though, yes, it's simply "stretching".

By detail, sheer weight and accuracy, the GFFMC is far superior to either MG kits. The KA kit being a little more inferior to the newer one with the MS cage. However, there is the issue of you did not bulld it, you did not paint it, you did not mod it. So for self satisfaction, the model is superior, if you want to have a good representative of the Unicorn MS suit, with heft and quality AND you have the spare $$ lying around, the GFFMC is the way to go. I have the GFFMC, the original, but I am also thinking of picking up one of the MG kits.

So Mr. Quinjester, is it kind of like The Shining Gundam (http://www.hlj.com/product/BAN43629) from the ummm.....wait for it - G - Gundam series right? Related kind of concept but way up to date and many more improvements/enhancements it looks like.

I would say so... depending if you thought the Shining Gundam "transformed" at all... in my opinion, Shining Gundam only got taller because his feet got bigger when its "heels" flipped down. And the shoulder-pads got taller a bit when they deployed.
Unicorn however, gets longer legs, and arms and his chest expands a bit too. It's rather tough to explain without visuals... here's a clip somebody posted of the two times we see it change from Unicorn to Destroy modes so far:
PS: don't forget - episode three comes out next month digitally and soon after on blu-ray!

Got it Mr. Ben-Ohki. That's kinda how i pictured it. The cockpit is a little scary and dramatic but overall everything looks way cool. Shining Gundam only did about a third or less than half those things and not as up to date, but then again that was like over a decade ago, almost 17 years since G Gundam.

Ooookay, when are we going to get the the GFFMC Sinanju?
Seeing the duel between the Sinanju and the Unicorn in the OVA Episode 3 really fueled my desire to have a GFFMC Sinanju, with a special candy red version if possible! ;D
