Count me out!!! LOL! Well....kind of feels like a kick in the privates, but Seed D fans have been anticipating this for a while I guess. Just never been a big fan of the whole Phase Shift component with my Mobile Suits. Always sort of hit me as ambiguous and gimmick-y. Will definitely be saving some cash w/this release. Ah well, cheers to those fans of Seed D who will finally be seeing a deluxe version of this MS. In the end it's all about the love of mecha and Gunpla. Congrats. EDIT: I'll be looking forward to some fully glued, puttied, sanded, primed, painted and decal-ed kit's from all that purchase this thing! LOL! J/K! No, seriously.

Never got into the Anime, but I did like this design. I already have the MG version. I am curious if this will just be built off another frame though.

its funny how many seed kits are getting the pg (and mg) treatement seeing as how it is noted as one of the worse gundam series to date. I cant say much cuz I never watched seed but, while I do like many of the designs (though quite a few got reused quite a bit) and am not mad by this recent choice, I am just amazed that so many seed related models are being made into PG!! One could argue that each model is from a sperate series so to speak, Seed, Seed destiny, and Astray, but they are all really part of the same thing. I would of perfered another series getting PG treatment, especially an enemy mech. Oh well........ and yes I will be getting this lol

What is considered popular or not, good or bad etc. is purely subjective to someone's tastes. The point mechamasterj is even if you(and me for that matter)consider Seed to be the worst Gundam series, other people(and a lot of them)like it very much. And that makes it very popular hence the numerous kits from the series. On the other hand one of my favourite Gundam shows, for example,is Victory but i don't see it to be very popular nowadays wich means little to nothing on the model kit area. Well that's how life it is afterall

the mobile suits in Seed and Seed Destiny are great, but one Thing that i found annoying is the Leading Character "Kira Yamato". i've never felt this way towards a leading character before wishing he would die in a series, and i actually was happy when Force Impulse Gundam Destroyed the Freedom Gundam thinking it was the End of Kira ... but sadly.. he returns..

PG Strike Freedom's announcement is underwhelming for me. It's not that I dislike the design of SF, though I don't love it by any means. It's just that I'm still underwhelmed by PG 00 Raiser. I like the visual design of 00 Raiser but the PG kit ended up being less than a truly "perfect" grade model kit. It seemed somewhat rushed. With respect to PG SF, I think Bandai will have to produce a truly innovative model kit in order to win over at least non-Japanese gunpla enthusiasts who either dislike the SEED branch of Gundam fiction or who felt burnt by PG 00 Raiser not living up to their expectactions.
Personally, after how well the Realgrade RX-78-2 model kit lived up to my expectations(a remarkably well engineered model kit at 1/144 scale), I'm hoping for an impressive effort by Bandai in the PG Strike Freedom.

yeah i have read many reviews on the pg 00, its veiwed as an upgraded 1/60 scale gundam than a true PG. I have yet to build mine so i cant say for sure but the inner frame is definitely simplified.

I have mixed feelings about the PG 00 Raiser. While I don't own it, I've seen a fair amount of material(reviews both pictorial and video, WiP journals for the kit, etc.) and I think I can form as fair an assessment of it as I can without building the kit.
With respect to the view that it's a 1/60 scale upgraded Gundam model kit rather than a true and proper PG, I would have to agree. From all I've seen of the PG 00 Raiser(the runner layout, the separated parts, the instruction manual, the completed kit), it does seem less complicated in some areas than PG kits that have preceded it. On the other hand, when I consider the design of the Mobile Suits in Gundam 00, I do see a trend in the designs that point to an overall aesthetic and engineering principle that focuses on streamlined and simplified structures. I have the MG Exia(Ignition Mode version) and while it's not the 00, it is related, and it has some parallels to the PG 00 Raiser such as a more simplified inner frame design.
Another issue I see with the PG 00 Raiser is that its design displays basic mistakes that should have been avoided, especially in a PG kit. For example, people report that the arms have difficulty holding the weight of the GN Sword III due to the significant mass of the sword. Bandai's designers of the PG 00 Raiser implemented locking joint mechanisms for the knees, which is great, but neglected to implement something similar for the arms, which seems like a strange oversight considering how large and hefty the GN Sword III is, especially at 1/60 scale. It's simple mistakes like that combined with a less complex design that I think makes many people come away from the PG 00 Raiser with a less than positive experience.
Getting back to the PG Strike Freedom, I think that if Bandai's designers avoid making the same engineering mistakes they made with the 00 Raiser, they're a step up on the game. They also have the opportunity to bring in some new or at least significantly improved engineering. The designers behind the RG RX-78-2 created a marvel of a 1/144 model kit so at 1/60 scale at this point in time, they should be able to bring their game to the next level and engineer something spectacular.
There's the possibility that the PG SF may re-use parts(inner frame specifically) straight from the PG Strike or use re-tooled parts from the Strike. I can see that rubbing some gunpla enthusiasts the wrong way since the PG Strike was re-used to various degrees twice already(PG Strike Rouge and PG Astray Red Frame).
The choice of Strike Freedom for this year's PG kit may work out to Bandai's advantage. Since there seems to be some significant grumblings from some gunpla fans, expectations are lowered. If Bandai does their best on the PG SF then people who like it/want it will be definitely pleased and those who didn't initially support the choice will be proven wrong and perhaps be persuaded, however grudgingly, to acknowledge and maybe even applaud Bandai's efforts. It was the opposite with the PG 00 Raiser as many people were greatly anticipating that kit's arrival.

Actually the PG 00 Raiser has locking mechanisms on it's arms too.The problem is even if the joint is locked to a certain postion the fist itself can't hold the weight of the GN sword. The again i had the same problem with the Gerbera Sword of the Astray,so i think Bandai must work out some of these problems considering the prices they put on these items.

Thanks for the information, redalert. Definitely, for the premium price point PG kits go for, I expect functionality issues like inability of certain joints to support the weight of accessories to be non-existent. I'm surprised that the PG Astray has such a problem with the Gerbera as it doesn't look like it's that heavy but I suppose looks can be deceiving.

To be honest in other collectors pics i've seen the Gerbera stays perfectly well to the Astray's hand.Maybe mine was a defective one who knows
