Sorry to bring this thread up again, but I've been exceedingly busy for the last few months. I just finished this pick of my GX-59, and I thought I'd share it. I hope you all enjoy it!

Thank you everybody for the likes and constructive criticism. I made this using free, professional photo editing apps on my Android phone. I got started a little over 2 months ago on PicsArt. I took a few robot pictures and messed with them all weekend. I experimented with every tool, effect and filter to discover the outcome. Pretty quickly, I had some cool designs. Once you master 1 program, it's easy to understand others. They all have certain strengths, you just have to try them and find what you like. New, more advanced software is available almost weekly, so I download new ones as they become available. I used 3 different apps on this Daltanious.
It would be difficult and extremely lengthy to break down step by step exactly how I made this. And I don't want to completely give away my style. I'm hoping to see what some of the members of RJ can come up with. I'd like to learn from other creative collectors and admire their work.
1 easy thing I can help you guys with is super-imposing your robots onto a cool background. I use an app called PhotoDirector for this, and it's a good one to learn on. Once you find a picture to enhance, select "Blender" from the bottom menu. This will cover your subject with an opaque sunny sky. From here, you can select 1 of the stock backgrounds. Or, press the "+" in the lower left corner. This allows you to import any photo from your gallery. With this option, you can literally put your bots into any scene on the web.
Next, select the eraser below your picture. There are also icons to draw, adjust brush size and shape, and to see your original pic. The tool that makes this app special is the squiggly line that is next to last. Make sure this is activated, and select a mid-sized eraser. Now, simply erase over your robot to blend the scene. This tool only applies brush strokes to areas with similar pixles. So, it is easy and extremely accurate. Apps I've tried this with in the past were tedious, and the finished result didn't look natural.
Once you've exposed the bulk of the robot, reduce the size of your brush for smaller areas. You'll also want to smooth the few rough or pixilated edges that occur. Zoom in and out on your photo as necessary. If you make a mistake, don't worry. Just draw over any mishaps. Attention to detail is paramount. But this is easier than you think.
I've started displaying my work on Google+. Yes, Google+, as I want to keep a low profile while I develop my skills. Just search collections for "Super Robots".
I hope this informs and inspires some members of RJ. For me, photo editing has become a fun part of this already awesome hobby. You can do this anytime and anywhere. I have a mundane career in business, and this allows me to explore creativity that I've suppressed since childhood. My wife likes this new aspect of my hobby, as I'm no longer spending $400 on robots monthly. Instead, I'm enjoying my existing collection in a whole new way.

Looks great. One more reason to make me want this thing. It's on sale at HLJ for like $150 + shipping. Unfortunately it's the shipping that's killing it for me, $50.

Got around to opening and combining this guy over the weekend. Must say I really like it. I would probably liked it more if I hadn't gotten it with the GX-71. That is in a class by itself. One question though, once combined, Atlaus doesnt seem to lock in and will come out if grabbed by the shoulders. Am I doing something wrong?

Messing with Daltanius and Voltron side by side becomes more fun and connected once you realize that Daltanius was supposed to be Voltron. He is what WEP had ordered from Toei. But a late night language barrier statement involving "the one with the lion!" Had Toei drop the GoLion tapes in the box instead on accident. And the rest is history. So Daltanius is kinda the "concept Voltron".

Im alright with Miracle's Dairugger.. its good enough.

One question though, once combined, Atlaus doesnt seem to lock in and will come out if grabbed by the shoulders. Am I doing something wrong? I think nobody answered your question yet Same with mine, and I have the second reissue. There's no other locking mechanism there aside from the red rectangle at the back, but it doesn't do a good job of keeping Atlaus locked in, and the tabs on Belarios shown in the instructions are for alignment purposes only. You really have to pick him up by the waist, or they might disconnect and come crashing down.

Thank you very much in advance Daltanius was a fairly recent reissue. So it's one Bandai still has stock and support for. You should be able to contact their customer service and get the replacement part.

You really have to pick him up by the waist, or they might disconnect and come crashing down. That's not unique to Daltanious. There are a few SOC's best picked up by the waist. Ideon being high on the list. I'm also real cautious with Voltes V and Combatler V as well.
