I like the look of this gen 1 toy: clunky, chunky, goofy and full of charisma BUT whats with the fat price tag? At around $130 thats really kind of crazy, maybe the most expensive TF yet??

It could be because it is Diecast. I would get it, but I have other diecast things I'd rather get first.

I'll be all over this as soon as it's available in the UK. There are some really good pictures of the giftset posted in this forum sgcollect.comIt is definitely Diecast ;D and the insert is Plastic not Polystyrene.

I want this TF so much! I'm so glad they decided to reissue him in the original style packaging too. It would be nice if they went back to this style for the rest of the reissues. Those white book style boxes are cool, but I like the old school better.

I don't see any excuse from the price other than the fact that they know people will pay it. This is probably the single most in demand TF of the past four years, now that Fortress Maximus and Optimus Prime have both been made readily available through various reissues.

Speaking of the reissue D-78 Predaking, it's confirmed comes with diecast materials, which is similar to Hasbro vintage release. Managed to take some photos on it. Click at the link below to access the gallery :- Predaking Reissue

I finally got predaking.
Yes its with diecast as you know.
Mine had the double tape on box which seems to indicate that QC errors have been resolved by going back into the box and adding/swappping cards/pieces.
The toy is great though, all intact, all pieces present. Solid and well constructed, i cannot compare to vintage as i have never seen one. The stamp says takara and hasbro 1986 so perhaps made using original moulds??
Compared to binaltech and the original ex-diaclone cars this toys is pretty ugly but in a great way, yes it looks like a big silly toy but its just so cool, i love the robot modes as they are pure gen 1 bricks where imagination brings them to life. Bigger than i thought and my only real complaint is the rather flimsy nature of the box and plastic inserts (these also had double tape rather scruffily reapplied).
A lot of money perhaps BUT in its defence we've all been paying $30 or so for collection reissues yes? Well here are 5 big toys, if released alone would be at least $30 surely and that adds up to the current asking prices of $150.
Recommended. So much nicer than armada, energon and even galaxy force.....sorry folks, saying that GF convoy is a neat looking toy for sure.

For Razoclaw, Rampage, and Divebomb, the diecast part is the waist. For Headstrong, it is the back of the rhino. Not sure with Tantrum though. Got to compare the reissue with the original plastic version. The toys are virtually identical (though a friend commented that the lines are more pronounced on the original). The colors are a bit lighter on the reissue though, most notably the swords.

I haven't preordered, but I plan on getting it as soon as possible. I have my old one still, but the unfortunate thing is that the one I have is half plastic and half die cast (3 of them are die cast), & I've always been disappointed it was never fully die cast. But Predaking has always been up there in my top 10 all-time favorite robots, aside from the fact he has one wussyass sword. This time around he'd better have a better sword, man.
And Toywiz is notoriously expensive.
