Even though I have little interest in this figure as a whole, I have to say I'm pretty damn impressed with the combination mechanic. At a glance I would not have assumed that those three robots turned into a single larger bot, unlike many combiners where it's a fairly obvious gattai (these dudes are legs! This guy is arms! the huge dude is a torso, etc...)

This look like a lot of parts forming to me. I just don't see how this would be anywhere close to a perfect transformation, unless it has a lot of kibble in the back.
The bots look good.

Daioja is one of those weird combiners, where you can almost hear the old designer's wheels smoking trying to come up with yet another way to make robots combine. The vintage DX works out oK, but with a couple glaring cheats for toy production.
Looking at these new pics, it's definitely looking good for an almost perfect combination, except for the usual bigger combined fists, head, etc.
Having what looks like a magnet gimmick, for the leg bot (which yes, splits n flips upside down) and the torso guys, should be pretty cool. I'm almost sure they'll back up the magnet parts, with tab/latch backups, but this is looking like a nice update.
At least they'll have that main combined shoulder joint at the actual proper shoulder pivot point, so it's progress!

its listed at 24,150Yen so around $300 at the current exchange rate so its a definite pre-order special price toy or your gonna be paying out ur nose later just do to sheer popularity Argh! It's a steep one... this is the most expensive combiner ever! Gotta watch ami-ami closely, don't wanna miss the pre-order discount After reading quinjester, locidm and rtjohn's posts, I realized that this could never be a perfect transformation/combination thing. How did the vintage DX achieve the combination anyway? EDIT: Answered my own question, link courtesy of gtian: www9.plala.or.jp/inukakure/daioh.htm

Pre-order made... thanks for the link! Strangely, I did a search on ami-ami concerning daioja/daiojya/SOC but nothing came out... Must've been a pretty recent update.

Pre-ordered, on things like this you don't wait especially with 27% off. Also this still looks like a resin prototype/photo sample so stuff like colors and paint type could still change, it's set to release next April which is still a LONG ways away.

As posted before here's a link to how the old toy combined. www9.plala.or.jp/inukakure/daioh.htmAlso a youtube video of it in the anime. Difficult but not impossible for a complete perfect transformation or a pretty damn close one considering what Bandai did with Godsigma.

Although the arms pivot from its midsection, not the shoulders. But it still looks good when the arms are extended out, as if they are bent at the elbow.

Since i live in Europe, for the first time i have decided to wait to get this from an Italian importer. Right now the prices for GX-60, Gx-59, GX-58 are very reasonable and they are available widely. I am really sick of those £50 ($80) customs charges, every single time! For us Europeans, it's the Tamashii exclusives you need to be careful with! :-)

I like that link to the pics of the vintage transformation. Short and sweet, and gives you the idea of how it works.
I think the combination can be hammered out well, since Daioja is like GodMarz, Albegas, and GodSigma, in that the seperate bots don't have to worry about transforming into anything other than: 1) a robot, and 2) a bigger robot. LOL No animal, fish, tank, airplane modes to worry about in the design.

Pre-ordered too also from that pic if Daioja is around the same size as Godsigma then comparing the individual robots with the combined one they will be quite large in their own right. Cool display diorama too, wish I could have a set up like that.

Well for that pre-order price I went ahead an ordered one. If I don't like it I can always sell it for what I paid for. Pre-order one and support the economy! ;D
