I know what it is... it's that Pilder head. ;D On a serious note, this White version really looks awesome. I'll never know why it's been painted that way, but it certainly opens up a nice conversation thread here. Great job on the paint, Brock... it Rocks! zozo-mag something about that first pic that cracks me up. lol paint looks great.

Ok heres the deal,I have 2 of these,so one of them I was going to use to make a Mechanical beast for Mazinger.Then I decided gee maybe a cool repaint would be different!
I wanted to make him in some traditional 70s colors maybe aqua,white,yellow,red etc etc.But along teh way this colorway scheme just seemd to be pretty cool.As I say its only painted this way for pure aesthetic ("cool looking lol") value! I think it did the job,and teh paint really feels and looks great on the metal parts,and even the plastic areas.
I first used plastic adhering paint for the plastic parts,but through experimenting found that primer and regular enamel spraypaint workrd better on those parts.The plastic paint direct to the plastic just doesnt give enough protection and takes longer to dry.It also chips easier,so just a tip for those wanting to do repaints where plastic is involved.Also some swear by lacquer paints such as Chachipower in lieu of a faster drying time,but enamels dry very fast too,I tried them over the enamel primer and it didnt work,maybe he is going direct or using a lacquer primer??? Anyhow it worked well for me with basic primer and enamels.{spraycans}

You're right about paint types. In some cases, certain applications and proceedures work better than the fast-dry stuff, especially when painting plastics. For my own projects, since I work with plastics, I always fine-sand my plastic surfaces before I paint them. As in the case of my Mechacolle Mazinger-Z model, I spray-painted the plastic parts with semi-gloss enamel... As for the thighs and biceps, I sanded them before applying very thin coats of silver metallic paint by brush, and the results did me good. But, back to these diecast figures, painting them can be tricky and so ya have to know what methods to use on whichever material you'll be painting. The paint-job you did on this SRC Mazinger looks very professional; and it's a unique color scheme, thus taking things outside the norm. It's all good! zozo-mag

... ... don't know what to tell you. the paint job looks excellent, but I'm not digging those colors on shin mazinger. it very much reminds me of a strawberryshortcake figure. ;D
