What's my most recent purchase?
HFTD Sidearms Sideswipe.
Since I didn't like either the first movie Sideswipe or the DOTM Sideswipe, I decided to get the HFTD version.
I wanted to have the Takara version since it got the accurate colors, but I thought it's not worth it and got satisfied with the Hasbro version.
The figure is okay, although the legs are not that well articulated due to the rubber pistons at the waist and the lower thigh. But overall, I liked it.

Transformers: Prime NYCC Bumblebee and Arcee. I'm champing at the bit for the new TF Prime toys so I couldn't help myself when Hasbro toyshop made them available. I like both figures quite a lot - bee a lot more than I thought I would, really. He's sufficiently close to his show deco as well that I probably won't actually bother buying the regular retail release. Arcee doesn't seem suited for white and pink - but she's still a pretty cool toy. I can't wait for the toys to start showing up on retailer shelves.

same here quinjester. I got the set a few weeks back and liked the Arcee figure a lot more than the Bumblebee. Just waiting for the regular release to hit stores. I didn't like me bee figure because one of the pegs on the side of the door kinda broke off, not entirely but the white crease mark on it because it was too tight. For most recent purchase, it would be the Heavylabor aka LongHaul, just got charged for it from BBTS yesterday. Got some stuff coming in from BBTS, my two Causality insecticon from Fansproject, the Bishoujo Lucy Ghost buster from Koto and a HGUC Unicorn Kshatriya. Also got some stuff coming from a fellow RJ member coming in this week, and I got my Koto Megaman Zero kit last Saturday.

A few things arrived in the mail recently that make me feel like I should re-evaluate my hobby.
1) Soul of Chogokin Spec - Tekkaman Blade with Pegas
2) Aoshima Shin Seiki Gokin - Mospeda Tread (blue version)
3) TFC Toys Hercules "Heavy Labor" (aka: Not-Constructicon-Long-Haul).
There's a little story behind these purchases. I've wanted the Tekkaman ever since I stumbled on a full-set of the anime (sub-titled) in a store this past year. I have this uncontrollable obsession with buying toys of series that find at random. And the Tread I got because I figured "I've waited long enough" plus I'd read rave-reviews over the last few years since it came out. Both of these items were on sale at HLJ recently as much as half-price and I had the cash to spare so... I figured, why not. And the third... well, the pre-order was placed a while ago - I liked the concept ever since the project was announced.
Now here's where I wonder about my collection... I've noticed that in the last week or so I have fiddled with the Not-Constructicon non-stop every chance I've had since it arrived. If I'm not eating, if I'm not playing video games, if I'm not doing chores around the house, then I'm probably playing with it somehow.
There's just something pleasing about its size. It fits in my hands and it's genuinely fun to change from one form to the next - sometimes even into Hercules's waist even though he doesn't have any of his buddies to connect to. And those other nice gokin-ish figures? I barely touch them.
I mean, big gokin are nice. And they're satisfying to see on my shelves. But... I think I need to come clean and realize... I just don't find them as fun as a Has-Tak Transformer (or these 3rd-party guys). They're fiddly. I'm constantly afraid to break something, and mostly just unweildy - like they don't really fit in my hands, often with fragile bits like wings or antennae sticking out a all odd angles while I'm trying to change forms. It's a wonder I haven't hurt myself with a gokin yet.

- Placed a preorder for Monster Arts Mechagodzilla parts.
- Purchased Takara Robot Master Beast Convoy (Optimus Primal). I never thought I'd find one in a reasonable price ($27 not including the shipping).
- I should receive Heavy Labor today along with Generation Wheeljack and Warpath (Maybe).
EDIT: Okay, maybe not. Post office closed earlier today due to the holiday.

I know the feeling, but at least you picked a cool rendition - the Clone Wars version of Artoo has a lot of play gimmicks other versions don't have. When I got into Clone Wars by way of the Blu-ray sets I started with a figure of Rex and Cody - two of my favourite characters from the first season. Then little by little, my team of two clones at my office desk became a squad, then it became a legion... until at one point, I decided, I was tired of collecting clones. Now, I still buy a new variant clone when I see one, but thankfully clone characters don't come out as often as they seemed to a couple of years ago...  |

It's not like I'm a fan of Star Wars or any thing... I do have a soft spot for it, but not in a normal fan level. Plus, all what I saw was the original trilogy and that's it. And continuing the "Where are Wheeljack & Warpath?" series, there was a twist...! Instead of receiving them, I got something else instead... Robot Masters Beast Convoy! All what's left are DOTM Fireburst Optimus, WFC Optimus, Prime Voyager Prime and iGear Masterpiece Prime and my desired Optimus Prime collection would be completed. |
