So is that sort of like a mix between the Masterpiece series and Binaltechs?

Aaron Archer said last year at Botcon that it was going to be the bridge series between Cybertron and the Movie toys.
Here are a few things we know:
Megatron will be a gun! He was described as being something like the gun from Judge Dredd with a scope.
Optimus will be released in two versions (one at first w/o a trailer, the later on with a trailer).

still, makes me wonder..WHAT will Soundwave and Blaster be? MP3 players of course! And Rumble, Ravage, and Laserbeak would be memory cards.

well, isn't it so that HAsbro can't use VW Beetle design due to some spat back when Bumblebee was made..that is why the modern same-type character, Hot Shot is a yellow car, but not a beetle, and HotRod can't use that name.

I just saw this, and had to pick my jaw up off the floor. I am in awe... speechless. If this is only a glimpse of things to come in the Neo-G1 line, it's going to be incredible. I tip my hat off to Hasbro and/or Takara. Simply awesome. Now let's hope they do it in the original G1 anime grey and purple colors.

I like the look of the astrotrain prototype, hopefully this is a step in the right direction.
I find the newer toys with fantasy/futuristic vehicles and frankly rather ugly robotmodes a turn off. I liked binaltechs upto a point (i felt meister had the best robot mode-when properly posed on his tiptoes) but as we all know you have to fiddle for 5 minutes to transform.
Maybe these new toys will give a fast transformation (ie kid friendly, they are toys!) but still have more realistic vehicle designs and less cluttered robotmodes. The astrotrain does all these.
cool
CBC.
