I got it for 65$!!offer on ebay! seller listed it as made in 1990,youtube claims 1980.Im guessing 1990 maybe? Yeah the Italian sellers keep saying 80s for the toy but I would have to say late 80s or sometime in the 90s for production date because of the Gattiger logo design on the boxart. It just doesn't scream 80s to me. How bad was the shipping to the states? Didn't know you changed your name either.

Did the seller post a pic of the inside of the box, or dimensions? I am pretty sure he got the dx style one. I don't think they did an ST release in this box.

Its been Baron Weirwulf for well over a year.It was Count Brocken before that...I guess you mean. No i know you as baron weirwulf. You are actually showing up as "nanbara" on your user id on my end of viewing this thread. Not the first time I've seen it either. And right now I see baron on other threads. Toy looks good. Looks like they took the individual sets and packaged them in a resized box for the set. Like I said you can see the separate ones listed on eBay. Let us know how it is when you get it!!!!

I hate to throw water on your purchase, but I'm pretty sure when it says 'compact' on the box, it means it is the small size Gattiger, not the 5 car dx set (which I believe is the box you first post at the top). If it is the Dx, then it is a great score and congrats!

See right now in your post above on my iPhone it says nanbara but if I go to the forum list it says baron weirwulf.
Also I didn't catch the difference either - I also thought you bought the one that you showed in the fuzzy picture above. That one is the dx one like bt1 said.
Why don't you ask for the box measurements on the one in the auction. Then you'll know If it combines. I know that when they sold the individual cars from this release the boxes were pretty small. Look at the eBay ones for reference.

Sorry to bring the dissapointment, but I would hate to see the look on your face when the small box shows up at your door. Keep up the hunt - it will come

I scored on mine dead mint for a song (but still $$$ expensive) last year. They are out there. Honestly more of these sets sell underpriced with trashed boxes and decent cars than you think.
The biggest thing you have to be concerned with is making sure the cars are mint and the car accessory wings are there. You really don't need any of the damn missiles that come with this set.
You don't even need the box or foam. Just get the Japanese DX/first export version (the black box set with English and Japanese writing on it, or the individual silver Japanese boxed vehicles) because the euro release and later export releases were made with lower quality.
I need an unused or mint Japanese version poster though, as my set did not come with one.

Very nice score!!!
However, I'm still in a hunt for the Japanese Takatoku version (considering my area of interest)
Small of piece of advice, try to find a space to display the box ...
