Perhaps "sintering" means the same as Plating? No matter what becomes of it, it still looks Badass that style sculpt and all, great engineering with them joints as well. zozo-mag

Man... I'm sort of stuck with the paint job! The color of the body is a weird shade of blue - not dark like the shoulder pads, but not a light blue. Watching the Great Mazinger anime, the blue looks to me more like a purple. However, I did a test paint on a severely battle damaged version of Ankoku (prototype), and it doesn't look right either. I had no idea the color scheme was going to be so damn difficult to match! Let's see how long it takes me to get the colors right. Hopefully it won't be too long... }/

Try adding a tiny drop of white paint into a blue paint puddle and test it on a prototype. Sometimes you may have to mix paint colors to get the shade you need.

If the white makes it too bright, then go the other way and add a single tiny drop of Black paint into the blue puddle.
Test the mix on a prototype... if not dark enough, add another drop of Black until you get the shade you need.
Oh, and STIR the mixture completely, you Don't want the color mixture to "stripe".

Yeah, I guess I'll have to start mixing paint (which I really hate). It is just a b*tch to duplicate if I ever need to do any touch up to the figure. What color do you think the chest and forearms are? I think is purple, but it can also be sort of "denim" blue. The rest of the colors are not hard to match to the anime, but the chest and forearms are giving me hell! }\

That's the problem. In the pictures I find online the color is dark blue, but in the actual anime the color is denim bluish or some shade of purple. I looked at my Aoshima Anime version and it is purple, but to me its colors are all jacked up. This is driving me crazy!!! }D

hmm i see what you mean
since your doing the anime 70's version the quality of those videos are not the best and and in toy forms there colors looks different from the animes and are not so reliable. may i suggest to looks for another source of material that has better quality images like the Dynamic Super Robots Grand Battle movie and the Go Nagai's e-mangas Gaiden Dynamic Heroes, those have better images of Ankoku Daishogun.

I hear ya there. To keep that same paint mixture for future use you'd have to actually Measure how many drops of color added to x-amount of the other color, and write it down so ya don't forget it. Whenever I mix paint colors I use an eye dropper and a sthingy for measuring... The eye dropper will add the darker color to the sthingy of the lighter color. A long time ago I painted an old Power Ranger into a custom Koji action figure... I had to mix paint to get the color for the flesh on Koji's face... so, I used a small Tylenol container to mix the paint: 1 sthingy of red mixed with one eye-dropper of white.... ...I only squeeze one single drop of the white... I added one single eye-drop of white to every sthingy of the red, until I got the right color tone for the flesh. I then stored that color mixture in a glass Baby Food jar and date it. When the paint mixture gets too old to use, I mix a new batch using my measurement notes for reference so I can get the same consistency of the mixture. Sounds extremely like "rocket-science", but it works for me. lol ==== Hey... why won't this webpage let me type the word s- p- o- o- n?!!! It replaces the word with "sthingy"! ;D zozo-mag Yeah, I guess I'll have to start mixing paint (which I really hate). It is just a b*tch to duplicate if I ever need to do any touch up to the figure. }\

that is a pretty cool battle damage Ankoku Daishogun, to bad you cant make the skirt articulated to improve its articulation.
in your working progress of Ankoku Daishogun, if you make his gloves and chest armor a tiny bit lighter it would look better.
btw where are you basing this Ankoku Daishogun figure from?

Hmmmm.... make his kilt into separate plates, and line the plates from the inside with a piece of a black bicycle inner-tube rubber..... like a black "kilt" underneath the plates of the outer kilt.
