This might be the exisiting trailer. There are a few independent companies that have been producing these. Kinda like bootlegs but much better quality (like the WS Snarl). There is one which does not transform. Supposedly there is a newer one that is scheduled to come out this year which can transform. A few people have built their own (the pictures are on various other newsgroups and I can't remember where I saw them); one guy even put in working lights!
If this will be a Masterpiece release, then it's the first I've heard of it.

You know what, nevermind. The same thing is mentioned in "Mp Starcream and Mp Convoy Perfect Edition!!!"
Maybe this will be a MP release!

Let me get this straight MP-4 is a trailer? What a waste. If MP-4 was MP1 + a Trailer, that would also be a waste. It should be like MP-1a? lol MP-2 to me, is kind of a joke, a white Mp-1 with a new badge? Call Ultramagnus and double our money!

The only thing that ever bugged me about MP2 was that it was nothing BUT a repaint. I mean they could've change the mold just a little bit - I mean, just even a little! Like maybe a slightly different head or something. Other than that, I think it's okay to have a repaint as Ultra Magnus. The G1 cartoons never mentions the fact that UM originally came from a "Battle Convoy" toy but Dreamwave made it cannon in one of their mini-series by revealing a severely damaged Ultra Magnus as he loses his armour ...and turns out to look exactly like a white Optimus Prime! So for Takara to take up that concept was pretty clever (if not a total cheap-shot to collectors). I personally did not buy an MP-2.

Hey guys, just received a newsletter via email from BBTS, and this is really for real. The shocking news is, Takara will cancel its reissue of MP-01, and that makes sense a bit. From BBTS: Hi - Here is a quick weekend update from www.bigbadtoystore.comabout a variety of new arrivals, more new preorders, and another big announcement from Takara. MP-04 MASTERPIECE COMPLETE CONVOY & TRAILER: Takara will release the definitive version of Optimus Prime this September with the new Masterpiece MP-04 Giftset. This large boxed set will feature the Masterpiece Convoy (its unknown if they will make any upgrades or changes to the existing MP prime) as well as an all new, Takara built, Plastic and Die-Cast trailer. The addition of the trailer to this set nearly doubles the wholesale cost versus Convoy alone. Given the complexity and quality of Prime, I think its safe to say that a trailer priced in that same ballpark is going to be pretty sweet with all the bells and whistles. Its unknown if Roller will be included, but I'm again guessing the trailer will include everything you would hope for in a high end item like this. There do not appear to be any plans to release the trailer separately at this point, but having a second copy of Prime around to display in the alternate mode can't be a bad thing. The price is set at $189.99. The preliminary image is of the old MP-01 Cardboard trailer, we'll update this as soon as more photos of the actual new trailer surface. (**** PLEASE NOTE: Takara is replacing the re-release of the MP-01 with the new MP-04 set, so the MP-01 will not be reissued and has been canceled.) www.bigbadtoystore.com/bbts/product.aspx?product=TAK10608&mode=retailThis is really good for the ones who doesn't have a MP-01.

I'm not buying another MP Op. Don't really care about the trailer. Even with the G1 toy, I rarely display it. Takes up too much space. Unless displayed in Fix-em-up mode, of course.

Ummmmm no. No way I'm paying nearly $200 for another copy of a toy I've already got plus a cracker-box with wheels. For display purposes, you can get a papercraft trailer for next to nothin'.

Yeh, but it doesn't look "realistic" does it (I'm not buying it btw)?

I'm cool with what I've got. If you need a Prime and don't want the trailer Ebay has a ton and if you want both you can now get it in one package at a cheaper price than buying them seperately. Even if the trailer does Transform it will be such a space killer that you probably couldn't display it open on a shelf.

HLJ doesn't seem to have removed their pre-order for the MP-01 reissue.

Hmm anyone hear anything about Hasbro releasing a reissue of their short stacks Prime with a display stand and a voice box that says 7 Phrases from the Movie?
I just read it off another message board but there was no source link given to verify the post..

HLJ doesn't seem to have removed their pre-order for the MP-01 reissue. That's wierd, HLJ would have removed the item from their website by now if it was indeed cancelled, considering the release date they got posted there is June 2006. www.hlj.com/product/TAK08230
