Aaaaaaaaaaw, my babyyyyyys, come to Mama Maggie, don't cwyyy. Mama wuvs you both and mama will Always read your posts. Da rest of you brats, SCRAAAAAAAAAM! lmao ---Back on topic--- Baron, that's a damn awesome way of rigging up that Detolf case so your DX Maz fits right in there perfectly by itself. Do those Detolf cases come in a wide size for your DX Mazinger's hangar? Guys, I like how the Scrander wings angle back a bit to allow Maz more 'elbow' room. Can the wings also be inverted? (Upside-down) so they appear "swept back' toward the legs to simulate Mazinger's turbulence "mach-speed" flight***? *** this wing feature was shown in the OVA "Mazinger-Z tai Devilman" (Toei, 1973), during the final battle scene when Mazinger-Z chased after Doctor Hell's aircraft... the aircraft blasted a hail gust at Mazinger, and so he swept his wings back to increase his flight speed and fly streamlined through the turbulence of the hail gust.zozo-mag Now Mazinger I do recall a discussion on how teh wings were not like the SOC wings like GX-01 etc, where the were automatically in that pose..but remember Ive been moving etc, redesigning my room etc etc... now IM hurt! no comment on my customized detolf?...LOL anyhow tomorrow Ill have teh whole set up,Ill post pics..if you want? PS this post was with you in mind TMZ Id hoped you didnt know about the scrander yet...! just trying to give you a happy surprise!

Hi all, here's a quick look at the Soul of Chogokin DX Mazinger Z Jet Scrander set. Display bases New silver-plated name plate for the base. Sticker tabs included but not necessary to stay in place. The base for the Scrander also has a platform for the Jet Pileder. Even though the catapult does slide, I don't recommend positioning the Scrander at the tip like this, the whole thing will fall over (I'm holding the Scrander edge in this photo). Collapsing antenna, just like in the Anime (more or less). Once the Scrander was connected to Mazinger, there was no need for the antenna so it collapses into the Scrander. Jet Pilder Collapsing wings and rotating boosters. Koji is still not removable and the canopy does not open though. Mazin Go! Mazinger Z's first flight Please click to begin video playback. Scrander Cross! Mazinger Z can now fly! Iron Cutters Display base "Internal Workings Exposed" Mazinger Z Gotta admit, I love the details on the internal Scrander wings. The Good-Good gimmicks on the Scrander, movable wings and collapsible antenna -Scrander locks pretty good, but you will need some sharp or long fingernails to pry the belt clasps loose from Mazinger afterwards. The Bad-No diecast anywhere -Wings can't move up or down, just back and forth. Then again, if they made it move up or down, I guess the wings would look like the GX-01 designed wings. -Minor nitpick - I sort of wish they included new Breast Fire pieces with the same color finish as the Scrander, as is, we get 2 different colors of red on the overall toy. The UglyI would have to say ... the price. The set seems kinda expensive for something that doesn't really have much to offer aside from the wings. The display bases here seem kinda moot since we already got a huge freaking hangar from the DX Mazinger. Too bad they couldn't incorporate the new display bases into the hangar somehow. As is, you have to choose which display base you want to use. Another thing that really bugged me was how thin the material used for the main box was. It can easily get crumpled even though there is an outer box. Easily the thinnest box material I've seen in a while. Very disappointing. Overall, I guess it's a nice add on, but it just seems too pricey for it. I can't help but feel they could've save us a bundle by not including the new (pointless) display base and making the package smaller and lessening the over production costs. Ah well... Gold

Awesome review once again Gold! Thanks! I still don't understand why Bandai made the hidding antenna feature, as it NEVER happened in the anime or the OVAs. I guess they had to put some gimmicks in it to justify the pricing. Yeah, I think this should've been included with the figure from the get go. }D Edit: Just watched several episodes and OVA scenes and yes, the antenna does disappear. While it is never shown hidding or folding away, it is not there... Lazy artists perhaps?

Someone reported here that the when the Scrander docks with Mazinger the antennae goes in.If it were remote controlled going to Mazinger it would make sense to have the antennae out.Did this happen in any of the animes? Someone said it a bit earlier in this thread I think.I never noticed,Im gonna check the animes.
Just checked an old anime indeed it disapears when on mazinger see toward the end..

That is only in one or two instances through the entire anime. Basically, the artist forgot to draw it, like it happens many times with the mouth grills... Nope, I stand corrected! It IS gone most of the time! Wow! Just changed my decades old perspective on the damn thing! }D

Ever since Maz started flying, that antenna had always disappeared while the Scrander was docked with Maz. Throught the series and OVAs the antenna was never shown moving or retracting into the Scrander's top hull area. But, yes, it does hide away somehow.
The Scrander can be remote-controlled by either the Pilder (docked in Maz), or by the Control Room at the Lab. In cases of an emergency, the Control Room can over-ride the Scrander's control system IF it were to fall into enemy hands. Once the Scrander is docked with Maz, the Pilder assumes all control systems of the Scrander for Mazinger's flight, aerial maneuvers, and Scrander weapons attacks.
The one time I've ever seen the Scrander hijacked: it was hijacked by Boss' friends Nuke and Musha... Boss wanted his robot to fly, and he jokingly said he'd steal the Scrander's remote-control module from the Pilder so that he could use the Scrander with his robot Boss Borot. However, Nuke and Musha actually stole the module. And yet, the Scrander's belt couldn't even fit around Boss Borot!
I'll try to find that episode at YT.

Another thing, about the different red color shades between Maz's red parts and the Scrander's red parts: They've always been that way throughout the series and OVAS as well... that's just how they were colorized. So, no, what you're seeing is no faulty paint-job. That right there is as close to the original anime source as possible. And, last-not-least, Gold your review is Epic as ever, Thaaaaanks! zozo-mag

Yeah, in the anime the Scrander is red on one side and pretty much pink on the other. Weird, but that's how it was colored back then. }D

Here's the episode in which Nuke and Musha steal the Scrander's remote-control module from the Pilder...
WARNING: This 'English' subtitled episode is from the old dreaded HK dvd-rip version. If you folks can't bear it, let me know and I will upload my English sub version at YT.
