OUCH!!! You're right, That is SoOo UNFAIR! That there is a major difference in price between Amazon Canada and Amazon U.S. Can't you just order yours from Amazon U.S.? Oh man, wait... what if you did that- and Canada charges you insanely with stuff like Import tax and duty fees? Is it more difficult for you Canadian RJers to shop online through U.S. outlets? (I don't know these technical things about Canadian online shopping, that's why I ask.) zozo-mag

(I don't know these technical things about Canadian online shopping, that's why I ask.) zozo-mag Being in Canada and ordering through U.S retailers blows for so many reasons. For one we never get free shipping like some retailers offer. Even at reduced shipping cost everything still gets dinged by a customs charge making the item out to be just about the same regardless of discounted shipping. I want the upcomming SRC shin getter/ mazinkaizer set but bbts has it for twice it's value at $100, however purchasing from another retailer at a cheaper cost will likely make up for the difference in extra shipping, so you're screwed either way. Another good example are transformers; we get the first two to three waves (if we're lucky, and after months of said waves being in the states already). Amazon.com has platinum predaking for $50 right now, however that same item just released here in Canada for a whopping $150 retail...it's pretty bull sh*t a lot of the time.

Have you tried the Proxy idea? Perhaps a trusted U.S. RJer can proxy for you and you both can work out the details. If that were possible, would it help knock down the cost of getting your item? Late edit: Damn, I just realized the real culprit: CUSTOMS. No matter how you try to cut corners, any item coming into Canada still has to go through Customs and THAT is costly! ...that sucks. zozo-mag

Wow and I thought $64 was good. Thanks for the info greengetterguy. I never would have thought that it would price drop again an hour after I ordered it. Thank goodness I was just able to cancel my order and place a new one at the lower price. This is just one example why I really like the RJ boards. We are all looking out for one another. I couldn't cancel my original order because it had already shipped. So I called Amazon and asked for a price match. They gave me the price match, but then I noticed that they still charged me the tax at the higher price. So I called them again to get that straightened out... and they gave me another $22 dollar discount! That was a deal! }D

Yeah the cost difference in everything is ridiculous. The Canadian dollar is around the same as the U.S and sometimes worth even more but companies still charge us higher rates because they say the Canadian market is smaller. I won't even get started the amount of tax we pay for stuff especially in Ontario. A twelve pack of beer is over $20, cigarettes are $10 a pack plus we get dinged another 15% goods tax on top of that!

Amazon.com collects them ahead of time for us Canadians and if the amount they estimate is too high, we get a refund later on. It has been a really great way to get some good deals. At $65 shipped it is still a fantastic deal, maybe not as good as it is for our American friends but still sweet. Generally we have much higher prices here in Canada due to tariffs that the government applies. However in some cases it is a better deal here. SOC General Franky is currently $179 and is in stock at Amazon.ca, where as the last time I looked he was still $210 and on pre-order at Amazon.com. In fact it is about the same price for me to buy him from Amazon.ca even with our taxes as it was for me to order it from AmiAmi when it was on discount and have them ship it. Also with AmiAmi I may get dinged taxes and customs fees. In the end I find I win some and lose some. Pick your battles and try for the best.

I'm confused all across the board about Amazon's shipping procedures; but of course I've also never bought from Amazon. I'm about to take the plunge and order something from them (at last, the SRC Mazinger-Z!) very soon; I just wanna get all the Christmas holiday BS oughtta my way, cos too much is happening all at once I'm distracted. zozo-mag I ordered it from Amazon.com and the total to my house is only $65 and that includes all taxes and fees. Wait a minute... So how much's pack a Marlboro Light at Canada now? I don't know I smoke Du Maurier, and it costs me $10.35 for a pack of 25 regular sized smokes. Cartons will easily cost you $60-80

Cartons of major-brand smokes go for about average $80-100 here in upstate NY. The brand I smoke ("Smokers Choice" little cigars) would average me about $32.50 per month if I buy them that frequently, which I don't.
I'm not trying to quit, but just rolling with it: I've been smoking a helluva lot less lately than ever... one pack of twenty smokes now lasts me three days. Almost five months ago I was chain-smoking almost two packs per day.
Back on topic, I'm keeping an eye out for the DX Maz and watching how it fluctuates in price lately... although not by much, of course, considering its weight and package size.

I would way a little for the SRC Mazinger Z. It is a good price now, but remember... I bought it from Amazon not long ago, with shipping included, for $22 - and had in my hands a day and a half later. Just keep your eyes open and you will surely get it at a much lower price than now. }D

Instead of lowering the price from $374.99, they raised it to $399.99! Up $25 dollars!!! I don't think it will be going on clearance any time soon... }D
