Here's my Popy Daimos machinder refurb project.
I bought this one from Ben Lee on ebay a couple of years ago. He was missing all of his stickers but he had repros of the chest and shin blades so everything else was an easy rebuild. His head was almost completely faded. I can't find the "before" picture right now but here's the "afters".
I had to redraw every one of his stickers in photoshop at giant resolution so they weren't jagged. No one had a complete sticker sheet that I could find so I started from the low-res Mattel version available on the old Machindershop site. I then redrew in high resolution over that sheet. Of course, this was missing most of the POPY stickers- CollectionDX had the best pics of Daimos on the internet, so I redrew the stickers in high-rez, tracing over what I could make out from lo-res internet jpegs. I drew a lot of tiny, little boxes and shapes!

I bought repro missiles for the big red missiles and standard popy ones, but the large blades haven't ever been repro'd (to my knowledge). So, I bought two chrome knight halloween swords at Party City and sprayed them "pseudo-Popy blue" They're not blow-molded and so they're a little too thin, but unless someone out there is selling big Daimos swords, (email me- PLEASE!) they're the best I'm going to get.

It's funny- trying to recreate stickers from blurry, off-center internet pics is frustrating as hell- especially hand-drawing Kanji! But the hardest stickers to make for Daimos were his inner thigh ones- there is not a single good pic online of them- I had to zoom, rotate, and distort what I could find and redraw half circles and other crap as best as I could guess. Since I made them, I've seen some better pics and I think I'm pretty close. Of course, my own pic of them is kind've blurry too. I guess Daimos's inner thighs are cursed!

Awesome work there, Christ. Sometimes if you do it yourself you'll get very good results because you'll be committed to the work from start to finish. I took a closer look at those inner-thigh stickers...... ..now I'll look online to see if I find any....... my idea is to try and draw a good rendition High-Res of those stickers, using my 3D modeling program....... if I can successfully whip out a good high resolution rendition I will post it here so those of you Repro Sticker artists can download for personal reference to use with your repro sticker projects. zozo-mag

And now that I'm home. Here's the Daimos before. I repainted his head- as you can see it was really faded.

Thanks, guys! As for Ben Lee, I've never had a bad experience buying from him. I've gotten my Popy godzilla, Grandizer, Daimos and Popy Liger from him and he always ships quickly, is open to deals, etc.
