A seller that I have purchased from on Ebay contacted me about this item, wanting to know if I knew what it was. It appears to me to be a homemade Getter Dragun. He said he purchased it several years ago and it is made of cardboard and paper towel tubes.
Here is what he says:
"This pygmy jumbo is completely made from cardboard (limbs have visible spiral pattern similar to toilet paper/ gift wrap/ paper towel tubes). I have been unable to find any info on this Getta 1, but what I have found is that it has a striking resemblance to the actual Popy Jumbo Getta1. That info has led me to two possibilities: 1) it's a remarkably well done 'custom' piece piece based off of pictures of the Jumbo Getta1, or 2) it's an officially licensed/produced papercraft item from Japan.
I picked him up at a Hospice flea market sale several years ago so I genuinely have no background on it to offer.
Any information or thoughts you might have on the Getta would be greatly appreciated. I love solving toy mysteries but this one has me had me stumped for a few years."
Anyone have any ideas?
