Thanks bro.
I could just draw Mazinger's head from scratch ya know... ...but the DX Mazinger's head is the best sculpt I've ever seen since the LeReve vinyl Mazinger figure. lol
The Maz head tattoo which I wanna get will measure about perhaps 3"wide by 4"tall, to go on my left bicep.

Wait a minute, I mis-read your comment. YES, I wanna get the DX as soon as I'm ready for it. The tattoo is for later on down the road, perhaps this summer on my 48th birthday, seriously! zozo-mag You rather get a tattoo than the DX then? Because depending on size, it will run you about the same. ;D I'll snap some more shots for you this week. }D

any DIY explanation on this custom?

The reason why there is no DIY explanation is because in order to do the mod, the person doing it WILL HAVE to break and permanently alter several parts, there is no turning back. If not extremely patient and careful, serious damage to the figure WILL result, mainly to the electronics module, neck, head and Hover Pileder. I don't want to be responsible for this, so I rather not encourage the mod. If it was a $50 figure, then I wouldn't feel so responsible if anything went wrong, but it is not a $50 figure. }D

I must, and totally agree with TMZ... he took a calculated risk modifying his DX Maz, knowing that if he had screwed up it would be the end of an expensive specimen. Fortunately for him, the results of his mod work turned out successful. In this hobby, we often overlook the possibilities that mistakes Can and Will happen if we're not careful how we modify some of our hauls. Cheap action-figures and busted-up toys stand a better chance of replacing parts and making modifications for them. While I assembled my Mecha Collection Mazinger-Z model I got impatient and damaged some parts... the model kit was rendered useless... ...therefor I had no choice but to repair the broken parts and then modifying them. The kit also holds sentimental value to me, so I continued the modification until it exceeded its original condition. The DX Mazinger-Z figure is No joke. For the money it costs, it's probably best to leave it alone as is and enjoy it in one safe-n-sound piece than to try modding it and end up permanently damaging it (unless you seriously know what you're doing). In the long run, it's a matter of individual tastes whether or not anyone wants to modify a specimen. Just think about all the probabilities Before you jump into the mod project, and ask yourself is it really worth it. zozo-mag

Just had a great idea for guys who want the yellow eyes without the Mod.Howabout thin yellow cellophane cut to the shape of the eyes.
Also been wanting to say this for a while but keep forgetting,I would change out the batteries in the DX after a while, and make sure to use alkaline as they have longer shelf life and no acid.I just remember old toys with oozing acid inside.

That's a perfectly SAFE mod idea for the eyes. The cellophane can also be removed for cleaning the eyes. Batteries, yeppers Alkaline is the way to go. The non-alky bats tend to leak acid if left installed inside toys and electronics over a period of time. How long? ...until later on after you forget about them and then realize you've left them in there, and by then it'll be too late and there's acid eating through the item. Happens too often. Just take the bats out when the item is not in use nor being played with. zozo-mag Just had a great idea for guys who want the yellow eyes without the Mod.Howabout thin yellow cellophane cut to the shape of the eyes. Hey TMZ, you ever thought of doing any Stop-Motion animation with your DX Maz? zozo-mag

Post by TheMazingerZ on Apr 6, 2013 0:38:46 GMT -5
Of course I have. ;D It is just super time consuming to do a good 20 to 30 second stop-motion flick. But I'm sure I will someday. }D

LOL, yeah, but those are really basic stop-motion animations. Smooth looking ones require tons of time to get them right. }D

Doesn't have to be all that smooth. Maybe a bunch of still-pics showing Maz morphing from fully-armored to fully-exposed guts, using Fade transitions. ;D
