I have to say leave this section open and lock the sales section. I join RJ because of this section been open and i was able to see what it had to offer. pretty much it hook me to the joining the site. There other sites that they have lock down there main section and such that i visited and i have to say it never make me join them.
however I say lock the sale section because 1- Business is made there which is pretty much for the local members. 2- certain info of sellers is been put on.

So lock the Sales and gallery section then? Any other ones? Noooo, please don't lock the gallery! Just the Sales section is enough. ![;)](http://lemonstre.fr/robot-japan/smileys/wink.png) }D

I gave it a second thought and my mind (what's left of it, lol) is made up: just lock the Sales section only. That will protect RJ buyers, sellers, traders, and members all under one vault while it keeps out the scammers.
Leaving the rest of the RJ forum open seems to encourage new members to join and participate, as we've read in the testimonials above.
(side note: I can't even remember how I learned about RJ and what made me decide to join... an invite from someone? Search engine results?... an emailed invite from someone here? ..alien robot abduction? ...blind-jumped by a pack of Tokus and brought here to be indoctrinated?........... Amnesia?! I just cannot remember what or who brought me here! Damn, I'm gettin friggin OLD!) ;D

Def. lock the sales. I'm sure none of us want pitch from scalpers and such. ![>:(](http://lemonstre.fr/robot-japan/smileys/angry.png) Gold, I love the "minimum number of posts before they can post in the for sale section" idea.

The minimum number of post requiered before being able to post in the For Sale section is good, but it also has a potential to backfire. Let's say I get abducted by aliens... a long time has passed and my wife, who does not care one bit about collecting anything but cash, wants to sell my collection. She sees my Robot Japan tshirt and decides this coukd be a good place to start. But now, she does not only have to join a forum that she does not care about, she also has to post several times before she is able to post in the For Sale thread. Knowing her, she would probably sell stuff like the DX Mazinger and Fewture Ex Gokins for $50 bucks each! So, opportunities like that do pop up from time to time, and I don't think we should make them harder for them to come to us. ![;)](http://lemonstre.fr/robot-japan/smileys/wink.png) }D

hahaha, you need to have a will with instructions on how much to sell the figures in your collection then! i don't think anything should be locked. i never join a forum without seeing the content first because to join i have to give them my email address and if i dont like the forum after i joined, i cant take my email address back from their records. i know there are many people that think the same way i do.

LMAO... TMZ - Pre-nup...
My wife know, when I die, I want no coffin - use my comic books as a base and surround me with my toys! And BURN BABY BURN!

TheMazingerZ, I’ll double what your wife asks for your stuff ;D
As for the other way around, since the wife HATES all of them minus the little THS Optimus Prime, the Fewture Getter 1, and a SOC or two, she would give them all to my brother who in turn would sell them for bargain price since he doesn't give two $hits about toys even though he is a huge anime and manga dork. Wish I was like him.
I'm for no locked threads, just the sale section (but no minimum post required). Keeps things safe but friendly two.

Why don't you get her a Hatsune Miku figure, or a Drossel! That would probably convince her to like your collection. ![;)](http://lemonstre.fr/robot-japan/smileys/wink.png) zozo-mag

Setting minimum number of posts before you can sell something is good. But tricky to implement. You have to decide what is the "minimum posts", 50, 100 or 1000? What is too many and what is too little? If you set it low, like 50 posts, would-be scammers would still be able to chalk it up with ease within a short period of time. Set it too high, it might take a genuine, but low post count member forever to reach. Hence, you have to consider what kind of forumer profile you would allow to sell stuff here before setting the post count. Another way round it is to implement minimum post count along with a minimum registration duration, for example, a member must not only have 100 posts, but have been registered with the forum for a minimum period of 6 months. This would greatly reduce hit-and-run scammers from operating here. And it worked pretty well with another car forum that i signed up with. But truth be told, their sales section is more like a bazaar, you get people selling from car accessories, to watches, to mobile phones and even toys, which badly needed to be regulated.
On the other hand, after looking at our own sales section, it appears to be pretty orderly and if thats the reality, i dont think we need measures like minimum posts or registration period in place, yet.

Mecha-mecha has a point there about the Sales section. All we sell here is forum-related items, mainly robot toys. And we try our best to maintain strictly focused on this hobby, otherwise we wouldn't be "Robot-Japan".
Once in a great while other items might pop up, such as anime DVDs and anime-themed console games/gadgets, but it's always been related back to this hobby. Again, mainly robot toys.
Anything else for sale/trade that is non-related to Robot-Japan's focus in this hobby would become distracting and our Sales thread would end up chaotic as a Spam box.
As long as our community keeps a watchful eye on the Sales thread, and maintains our focus, we're good to go as it is. And if there's anything that seems like it doesn't belong in the Sales thread, just report it to the admin and moderators and let them handle the matter.
