Hi. VGM here. I've signed up a while back but never got around to posting on the board yet. I've been into collecting robots, mainly Japanese robots, for many years. My collection is fairly large yet I cannot display 95% of it due to space. I mainly like collecting Transformers, SOC and the like as well as 3rd party figures and Gundam of course. Basically if it looks cool and I like it I get it. Ha ha.
Happy to be here.
VGM out...

Late introduction here! I've been collecting robot toys for a while but I always looked away from collecting chogokin, especially the vintage ones, because they can be prohibitively expensive. But then the robots I really wanted - the ones involving the childhood heroes I grew up with - suddenly became well within reach for me, so here I am!

Hello I already introduced myself in the JM section, not having found this thread straightaway, but it woud not be polite not post here. After spotting the Shadowtrooper in a comic book shop by accident, I decided to collect the big robots that I only saw in catalogues or played briefly in a toy shop, as well as the smaller ones (I did have a 5" die-cast Raider, long lost, and still have the Mazinger bar a sword and a horn). Geekiness did not start for me with Starwars or Marvel, but with Goldorak. My kids like the JMs too. I got the whole Marvel Shogun Warriors run, which my son and I are reading. Thans to youtube, we can watch some of the cartoons from yesteryear. Toy-wise, I got the five Mattel jumbs I remembered, Mazinger, Raydeen, Goldorak, Dragun, and Gaiking, which I received today, pkus the Super 7 Stormtrooper and the Boba Fett, and some chogokins and gashapons. My graal was Goldorak and Gaiking, so that's done! I am sure I will find a new graal here!

Awesome, it's good to know that we're still getting new members despite the fact that social media websites are more popular now The local forums I frequent don't have that much active members anymore thanks to Facebook, I hope RJ will not go down the same path. I guess what I really wanted to say is: I LOVE YOU GUYS

Greetings all, new here and new to collecting. Grew up watching Force Five, Tranzor Z and Voltron. Went to middle school up the street from Mr. Big Toyland in waltham and had to walk by that window every day on the way home. Anyway, I hadn't thought about any of this stuff in almost 30 years. Somehow a switch went off in my head one day and I had to have all those things my twelve year old self wanted on his way home from school. So here I am, on my way to the poor house!

Hi Everybody.
One of my earliest memories is opening a Raydeen Shogun Warrior on Christmas. I grew up in the magical time when the Transformers, Voltron, and Robotech held me in front of the TV everyday after school. I was given many Transformers that I loved and took care of, and my seven year old Son enjoys them today.
But I came up poor, so I longed for a Voltron for years. Eventually, my single mother put herself through college and I finally got what I wanted for Christmas. It was beautiful. But by that time, I was into BMX bikes, and skateboards. I knew this toy was special, so I packaged it and stored it for almost thirty years.
I never forgot about it, so of course I couldn't wait to give it to my Son. So, I presented my three-and-a-half year old with the pristine Y&K Lions. Needless to say, 1 broken wing, and 2 tails later, the Defender of the Universe is no longer mint. But my Son carried it around like a teddy-bear for years. To me, that is a valuable toy.
Three years ago, this sparked my love of this wonderful hobby. For a few years, I focused on Voltron and had an interest in Gaiking after seeing "The Legend of Daiku Maryu" on Hulu. So, my first contemporary purchases were Dynamite! Action Albegas and Gaiking. I've purchased 11 Evolution toys, and I've been really happy with them. My son is seven now, and he's learned to properly care for special things. He makes unpredictable and imaginative mash-ups with them. And, they've worn really well. My favorite is Lazerion. I know it's overpriced, but the two gimmicks of armor and magnetic joints are really fun. And, underneath it's all chromed. I love shiny things. I've also got a few jumbo's and some great Bandai releases.
Then, I discovered Godaikins. What can I say? I bought eight in one year. Hopefully, I can upload the the pictures of my basic but beloved collection. I also plan to upload pics of a Voltron "MegaSuper collection" I recently won on eBay as my most recent purchase. I invite you to check them out.
I've learned so much on this site since March. I don't think there is another resource that could turn me from an uninformed collector to somewhat of an aficionado in that time. The moderators and members of this site really help those of us in areas where Chogokin collecting itself is rare.
Thanks.
