I'm in Southern California as well. Thanks for the info. I just ordered two of these from AE. I'll see if I can combine my wheeljacks I ordered with BB.
Seems like AE has the best pricing by far!

My Smokescreen is NOT amazingly painted  ... Takatomy still has a lot of QC issues. Sorry to hear that. Mine on the other hand is perfect. I have yet to see a review that has been otherwise either. That sucks that yours is not. It sucked that the blemish is right on the car hood. But fortunately, in robot mode it gets covered by the cannon. |

I think the movies are why people are sick of him. I welcome a g1 bb. I plan on getting this. I even expect this will be a hasbro release.

It's definitely the movies for me. They have made bumblebee into something he was not... and not in a good way either. The Transformers lore has a rich character compendium, if you need warrior-killer autobots you can always choose Sideswipe or Sunstreaker...and there is always Prowl, Bluestreak, Smokescreen or Tracks to some extent. But instead, Bay chose BB and remade him into an invincible assassin  There's a reason why BB's alt mode was never depicted as a sports car or a muscle car in the G1 cartoons, and it's because he's the nice and wimpy bot. |

I have never understood the hate that Bumblebee gets. I feel you. IMO They throw the hate on because of change in character from Classic to Movie. He was the lovable comic relief kid bot. And Hollywood totally changed him. And alot of people that remember him originally just dislike it. As mentioned before that had a lot of other warrior bots to choose from. I like the new look for the new story. But it's like an Elsewords story. Classic is still my fav. |

The overly abundance of Bayformer bee on toy shelves the past 5 years or so gave bee a bad name. Fans come to the toy isles to look for transformers and all they see are armies of really ugly and pathetic bees. Unfortunately kids love movie bee and they are the driving factor of what's on toy shelves in store, not collectors.
From the way I see it though, there is no love lost to the G1 bee. MP-21 will sell very very well.

Yeah. I have always loved the G1 Bee. Recently I have been rewatching the entire G1 series with my kids. I gotta say, very often, Bumblebee is the hero in that show. I can think of very few other Autobots besides Optimus Prime that are in like every episode of Season 1 and 2.

I have never understood the hate that Bumblebee gets. I've always had a strong dislike of this character. Even as a little kid, my perception of Bumblebee as he was portrayed in the original G1 cartoon is he is a weak character. He transforms into a crappy VW bug. Even at age 5, My thoughts of the VW bug is that it is ugly, weak and slow. Look at all the other Autobots, Porsche, Lamborghini etc... As a kid And like most kids we already know that a semi truck is powerful and a VW bug is weak. My dislike of. BumbleBee actually grew with the interpretation of him in the Micheal Bay movies. Of all the characters they have in the Transformers universe, they have to give Bumblebee pretty much a staring role. He is supposed to be weak, not a kick a$$ warrior. In the original G1 cartoon, he wasn't even strong enough to fight off Ravage. Of all the versions of Bumblebee, only TF Animated got it right. That interpretation of him is exactly how I see him. Never though of himself as any type of a fighter, a bit of a coward in that he knows when to engage and not engage a fight, know his roles and is a bit of a smart mouth and has just a bit of courage due to him being a Autobot. In the final episode of TF Prime, I was so happy to see How Optimus accidentally knock Megatron's Fusion canon blast shot into the chest cavity of BumbleBee killing the character once and for all. If I was to write this episode I would change the plot to this: Primes anger and rage that was suppose to bust out and he kills Megatron. But No, they have to make Bubblebee the hero and he rise from the well he fell into, which repaired him and he gets the final blow by stabbing Megatron in the back. That moment ruin the series for me. |

The kid was whiny and constantly messing up and still the Autobots put up with it and even bring him to battles at times! Oh wait, I just had a realization, perhaps they brought him to battle on purpose!

They go to lengths to save this kid for sure. I was happy to see that no more Daniel in master force. Minerva and the other boys were so much better.

Well, you asked the question of why people dislike the BumbleBee character and this is my reason. Other reasons like the abundance of toy and figures etc... Are also reason people hate him.
I did re watch the entire g1 series a couple years back. I got the entire g1 DVD series during a clearance sale. This was before netflix made it available for streaming. My opinion of him stayed the same. Bumblebee just flat out sucked. The character is pretty much a baby sitter for the humans. The thing I remember most about his character is how he can't even fight off ravage, one of Soundwaves minions. There were also times where he was trying to escape from Laserbeak. That's pretty weak in my book. The character was giving lots of parts and too me was his role was made to be important then necessary. I just dislike the Bumblebee character. You are into wrestling right? When Rey Mysterio became the WWE heavyweight champion, to me it was all sorts of wrong. Small guy like him shouldn't even be allowed to be in the heavyweight ranks. The point of view I am coming from and this is just my opinion is I just dislike insignificant small fry characters. In a death match G1 Bumblebee would probably lose to the majority of any Decepticon and thus I find him weak.
