Got Atlanger today, how do i feel about him? Well when I look at him I get a GRAT feeling, love the sculpt colors and accessories. When I hold him in my hand?well I get that same WTF feeling I got when I held my first ET toy Gaiking.VERY VERY LIGHT,I didnt realize until now what bugged me about Gaiking, the Et figures are just TOO DAMN LIGHT! .He feels a lot more together than Gaiking, and has decent posebility for what he is,but I cant get by feeling ripped off for the money. Not quite as ripped off as Gaiking, but if teh toy were heavier I wouldnt be complaining all that much.Et you need solid heavy plastic. If ET used ANY other material, any, Id feel better,if it just were heavier, like Star wars or He-Man heavy. This thing is like a feather and thats what bugs me..The accessories are great and you can make many ships out of him,and they are way coool! . well anyhow I give him a solid 7.5 and most of that is for aesthetics.Id say he is a must for 70s Super robot completists like myself. But ET toys are not for the average SOC/SRC collector.you will be disapointed, but if you are broadminded and enjoy a little funkiness and have a bit extra cash...go for it.He is 70s,fun,and all Super robot, just a little light in the weight dept.Oh and a few very minor paint issues that can easily be touched up with a dot of red here etc. BTW one thing Im overjoyed about is the shield emblem is a clear decal not white glued on paper like in the ptoto shots!! EDIT: been playing with this guy for the past 1/2 hr. I'm really having fun,I have really no complaints besides the weight,he is a great figure! "src=" " alt=""><img

Congrats! If this was a SOC or SRC I'd buy it in a heartbeat but I just loath magnetic joints. A lot of the appeal to me of these toys is the sturdy, clicky feeling of a toy, the heft and so on, it just feels well built and solid. With Evolution toys though I'm sure their well built but just the nature of it lacks a lot of what I'm looking for. With that said this is a nice set if you can overlook these issues and it does come with a ton of stuff. I just wish Evolution sold figures by themselves as a option.

How's the quality? How about some comparison pictures with some SOC's?

Again quality is decent I guess for what it is.I did find that the upper legs have extended lengthening, the ball magnets are attached to cubes inside the leg that pull down for better poses and length and are also part of teh combination I think,BUT these are friction held and already I can see they will get loose .Ill add more pics etc soon.Just wanted to get this out there for those who are interested.Thqanks for the comments Chen,Ill be doing some shots of Danguard Ace tomorrow in the SOC section.will compare Atlanger in the shots also with other SOCs.

Cool, on the upside it does look good and the chances of another company making a Atlanger is about as much as finding a Bigfoot in your kitchen raiding your fridge lol.

Glad you like it. Is there an easy way to add heft to it (e.g., open up the legs and add weights)? Aside from the magnets, is there any metal in it?

No other metal at all.It stands ok without adding weight, its just that ANY action figure I ever held at the same size as this one was at least twice as heavy. Its not that it needs weight added, just the materials used seem subpar as it weighs next to nothing. If I had a scale id weigh it.I couldnt even imagine how light it is without the ball bearing magnets!!

Problem with adding more weight or using heavier material is the additional strain on the magnetic joints. The lighter the figure the more stable the magnetic joints. I still don't understand why industry is using such weak magnets these days. My 1970's Baron Karza and Force Commander magnets are still as strong as ever, and those figures are pretty heavy duty built. }D

the more I see these Magnetic toys, the more I want to get at least ONE of these just to see how good they are...Gaiking AMAZED me, and this one is DEFINATELY helping my growing want for these toys...though I'm gonna wait for either Gaiking the Great or Braiger...also, I'm glad this company is doing more obscure robots as opposed to the ones we've seen a billion jillion times...
...maybe we might see a Daimos or the Dragonar Trio in this line?
....one can always dream...

Baron, that Atlanger is a very beautiful figure, love the colors... and even your cat likes it, too! Congrats! I can understand the need for better plastic on these figures. At the same time I must contemplate how toy manufacturers must be careful how they glue magnets to toys, given that some glues are caustic enough to eat into the plastic and damage the toy. At the same time, the practicality for which the toy is designed cannot be side-stepped for a better cosmetic appearance. In this case, this Atlanger toy was designed to combine into different vehicle configurations- so, magnets were used to facilitate the connection of different parts to others in that set. Toy companies are caught between a rock and a hard place when manufacturing a toy that will be played with as a "combiner". I also love its paint job... especially that combination of silver and red... I could certainly see that Atlanger figure used as an animated prop for a vintage '60s live-action TV show, similar to Johnny Sokko's Flying Robot, or Mach Baron... Baron, have you seen the CDTA #905 bus with its metallic semi-gloss silver? That bus looks like Ultraman! zozo-mag

If I like the incoming Poseidon, and if that Atlangers under $100 shipped, then I'm on board.
Love the funk on that robot.

Yeah, that darker blue on the body sure looks great! I may eventually paint mine in a similar shade, or maybe even a little darker. }D
