Reminds me of the Disney combiner, except with less combining.

I actually kind of like this and I'm not afraid to say it. Is the whole robot diecast?

If the Singapore McDonald's Happy Meals HK dolls are any indicatuon, we're going to see many repaints. I'd go for the normal and black/white cat repaint.

To be honest, I'd rather see a chogokin Doraemon. He IS a robot, after all.

I'd almost get this for my daughter, to give her when she wants to get to things in my collection.

Yup. The one you linked is very large but has a little plastic. It also has a "matte" color finish rather than gloss, gives him an anime feel. There are two different versions. Figures are the same but the accessories are different (there are tons of accessories included and they are all detailed). Chachipower bought my first release version (the one you linked). The 1979 one is great. It is almost all metal and has googly eyes. It was reissued in the early 2000s and is in expensive. I own that reissue and love it.

So silly, and so good. Hello Kitty was always the "girls" stuff, but loved the colors, and simple cute look growing up. Now, it's been everywhere.
This is a great fit for a chogokin. Cute, silly, licensed stuff is a BIG part of the diecast Japanese toy history, this is great.
Why bother preordering?? This is very likely to be everywhere, and easy to get. If you have a Sanrio store in a mall near you, it will be funny to waltz in amongst all that cutesy stuff, and buy a toy, LOL! (bring a kid as scapegoat if you must, haha) As mentioned, the Doreamon toy that everybody needs to have, is the little reissue of the original chogokin, with the silly gimmicks. Chachi did a little vid on that bigger, newer version he got from Mike:
OOOOOoo! And I can't wait to display Doreamon, Robocon, and Hello Kitty, all serious style, in a couple of those upcoming SOC docking/maintenence bay hangars, like the old Robotech factory, bahahaha!

I hope we'll see Amazon carry this with a good discount when released. Just realized Amazon has been carrying a lot of the Bandai stuff at really good discount, unfortunately stuff I have already bought or preordered that can't be canceled. And I would love to pick this up for my wife (and secretly playing with it every now and then).
I didn't get the re-issue of the vintage Doraemon chogokin, but bought the modernized version of that for my wife instead. It just looks cuter with the anime look, while functions similar as the vintage toy. That little guy is pretty hefty, and has a lot of mini gashapon capsules and magnet gadgets, as well as interchangeable eyes. It may be more girl-oriented, but still a very nice whimsical gokin. Who hasn't watch at least some episodes of Doraemon and like the robot cat when little (given you have access to such show on TV back then). It was a really good deal at the time for around $50.

Ur right. It seems like I could have saved by just waiting for eventual sales. I want that modern Doraemon now. I need to add it to my want thread.
