I loved watching this show when I was a kid, my cousin had a toy of this which was very cool and heavy. Also the ship used in this series was also in the final episode of kotetsushin jeeg.

I loved this ship design that I immediately recognized it when I saw it in the new jeeg anime. Edit: I also forgot to mention that the singer for the Starfleet version is none other than Brian May of Queen! He even has his face shown on the intro  |

True that... we all know how risque Go Nagai was with
his mangas and anime back in the day (and he still is).
So then, that explains the appearance of an "X-Bomber" ship
in the final Koutetsushin Jeeg episode.

Ah crap! I fell for Magengar's plee to Baron asking him to watch the video and now I need this in my life! I hate puppet shows like this and Thunderbirds but the 80's music... the 80's hair... the 80's giant heads floating in space.... Gaaaa! to 80's to pass up!
P.S. The fact that at the end of the video everyone on the planet dies, including the princess who asked for help in the first place and the fact that the good guys unload unholy fire from the sky until everyone is dead on the planet and the just leave so casually closes the deal for me !

Big Dai X is already sold out at Anime Export. Has anyone seen him up for preorder at other online places? I second this question. The more I watch that clip, the more I want this. I love Brian May/Queen and throw in Eddie Van Halen on guitar and you've got the recipe for awesome. I'd also like to track down the original series. I've found the english dub (ugh  ) but I'd prefer subbed. This show has the makings of something surreal....Go Nagai, marionettes and a combining giant robot! Big Dai X would have made an amazing jumbo machinder. |

Why the big x over the face,never got that design choice. That will be like asking why giving fangs to Daikengo.  In my opinion it is just a signature design piece that will make him easily recognizable among the crowd of super robots. Besides that X, like Mazinger's chest plates, emit a destructive beam. Anyway Go Nagai only knows why he put that X on the head, but no one bothered to ask him that question. On a personal note, I like it because it makes it look like the robot is wearing a wrestling mask. |

Yeah I can see that.I love the fangs on daikengo its too bad evolution didn't quite get the sculpt right on the fangs face.they usually get the sculpt perfect
