I made this figure more than 10 years ago and at that time I was still and apprentice goldsmith so it took me more than a month to finish this. This had primitive articulation and didn't hold much of a pose since the joints I made were unable to cope with the weight of the parts. All of the parts are scratch built and made from copper and brass. After 10 years my smithing skills have improved so I'm making a newer project with better details and articulation. I already have plans for 2 other projects once I finish with my current one. I'm considering of remaking Gaiking since I want better proportions and articulation on one of my favorite super robots.

This is fantastic! You need to make more than one at once, so you could spread the love!

Really cool Gaiking you got there. In college, I had a art sculpting class where I made a bronze statue of a hand. Mold was made with some kind of clay/wax substance. And then it was cast in some kind of cement block. The professor there poored the melted bronze into each cement block. This melted the wax sculpture and formed the piece. I remembered that we had to break the cement block to get the sculpture out and used a sand blaster to clean up the piece. This was years ago and I sure wished that the professor at the time allowed me to cast some Gundam parts in metal.

@supergetty The hands here were actually casted, I sculpted these from wax and used the lost wax casting using a centrifugal machine. It has holes where the counter cross could be placed but sadly it doesn't fit and I got lazy correcting that error. The counter cross on the legs are removable though.
