Gem stones: I don't think that's ever been done before with a custom figure, at least I've never seen it done since I've been in this hobby (6.5 years now). Go for it! zozo-mag

Go for it! zozo-mag also i've figured out installing some motors making it walk, though im thinking it wpuld be best if use a remote for the operation of this figure. I was gonna install some rockets to make it fly but it might burn my house........

Okay I feel silly that my april fools joke didn't get anyone. Anyway back to regular posting, I managed to add more parts to the arms including the fins.

This project is truly Epic! You've made everything about that figure so perfect! zozo-mag I do hope it turns out great after it's done. I'm also considering adding colored gemstones to the stomach and chest design instead of just using circles. Dai Apolon with some bling! April Fools or not, you should do it!!!

April Fools or not, you should do it!!! Lol, I was actually serious with the gemstones. It was making the figure MOVE with motors and a remote control that was the joke lol.....though it would be really cool if it was possible.

So far so good! The arms and legs look really good! About the arms: are you gonna sculpt the notches around the base of the yellow shoulders? Details details, lol. zozo-mag

@ tony Those details was the reason I had a hard time with making the shoulders since that hinders with my should design. I'm still pondering if I should just engrave it.

Engraving would seem easier. I assume the sterling silver material is soft enough to allow engraving, or with a small Dremel tool tip.
Otherwise, it's best to be safe and not take any chances so your design won't get ruined.

Sterling silver is actually hard enough for engraving but depends on how thick it is. I'm also thinking of just soldering the design on the shoulders.

Such a frustrating day. I've been working some some ball socket joints for the feet but it didn't work out as I needed the ball to have a perfect shape in order for it to rotate well in the socket without pushing the walls of the socket out. I'll try again tomorrow as I need to sleep early since it's my daughters graduation tomorrow. If my second attempt at making this fails I'll resort to the other type of ball joint for the feet. I was hoping this would work out since it would mean simplifying the parts for articulation and lessening the work needed for the joints.

I finally manage to get this ball socket joint right! I had to make the socket cup a little larger so there's gonna be more metal hugging the ball that's gonna go inside it. I've been testing and playing with it for a while and it hasn't loosened up since the socket cup has enough tension to keep it firm.....buuuuuuuuuuuuuut there is one catch to using silver for the socket cup. Once the ball goes in it's okay as long as it stays there, if the ball is removed that is where the problem begins. Since sterling silver is still a lot softer compared to steel and iron it loosens up a bit when the ball is removed. As long as the ball isn't removed there isn't going to be a problem and the cup does hold the ball tight since I had to use pliers to actually get the ball out of the socket.

Bro, you sure have some mad skills! I can't believe you made such perfect ball joints by hand! Wow! Just WOW!!! }D

thanks, i never thought i could pull it off. I've never done this sort of joint before and it makes me happy to get it right on my second attempt. Im gonna be using this on the neck, hands, feet and maybe even the waist. I still have some concerns using silver since it's not as hard as steel due to reaons i stated in my previous post. I could definitely use this on Doublas neck joints if I also decide to make him.

Man, I gotta try that with Resin! Those joints look so professional! You are Godhead! zozo-mag

tonyi actually don't know if this will work on resin as its not a flexible material and inserting the ball may cause the wall to crack. I think casting the resin cup should be made with the ball bearing aleady inside so you will have no problem with it breaking. Also i think this type of joint can be 3d printed.

So many stuff to do, I asked one of my friends who makes e-cig mods if it was possible to mass produce these ball socket joints out of stainless steel with a cnc machine. I'm still waiting for his reply, and I'm hoping the cost will be minimal since I'm planning on having a lot of these made for my other projects.

CNC machines ROCK! They usually run based on CAD programming and they will cut/sculpt objects exactly according to specifications. It's not an easy task, and it can be quite expensive. But once you have as many of those joints as you need, that should help cut your work load down a bit. If your friend can hook you up then you'll be all set for your projects. zozo-mag

I'm also actually thinking if I can also sell them that is if the cost of production isn't high.
