However, this new one... this new one promises to be the holy freaking grail of SoC Mazingers :) :) :) Very nice indeed. Lacking a bit in the way of poseability, but even that is part of its classic SOC charm. I just wish they had decided to update the hover pilder. The small rubbery one from GX-01R+ looks a bit sad compared to ones they've done since.

is the new voltes a repaint of gx31v or gx31? since it is written that GX31V (40th Anniv.) in the ads, can we assume that it is really based from gx31v? 1. minus of what is obvious, the long leg for the panzer treads Yeah. Bandai's really being lazy for not improving upon it. They could've made it ratchety-retractable at least for the 40th to have at least one good reasoning for the msrp-increase. It's just standard Bandai promo pic:

Hi all,
Sharp eyes Mechanical Flesh on the GX-01R Mazinger Z! I am glad it'll have the 01R+ head. I agree that this will be the best SOC Mazinger Z.

The bazooka pose is not even the new Voltes its the old proto for 31V notice the chrome belly and white stickers. Which means we have absolutely no idea (no definitive one at least) about the quality of the joints in the new Voltes V, right? They may be worse, better or just like they were on the 31V. or the regular 31. It's senseless to speculate further at this point, we just know what the new figure will look like and that's it! Until anyone of us has a chance to handle it, we'll not know if Bandai did or didn't do a good job with the articulation.

Well, Bandai usually makes claims of any improvement on their revised figures. They have not done so for the 40th Anniversary Voltes. It is safe to say that it is pretty much a repaint. }D

I'm more excited about Maz than with Voltes, I really wish Bandai added a bit more detailing on the legs of GX-31 like some panel lines or something.

I'm surprised that these aren't more spectacular considering they are placed under the anniversary banner.
It's just the same old reissue/slightly modded game.

Thanks to Lejam I got a great deal on a respect for volt and the gx50. Being a vintage guy I am still unimpressed with the packaging of these. Opening the shipping box to find the puny box holding the respect for volt kinda took the excitement and stomped it out. I would love to see these packages in a large box that could be displayed like the vintage versions. I hadn't seen the respect for volt in person and couldn't believe how tiny the box was. I would love to see these bigger all around. I'm definitely in for one or two of the Voltes but with all these upcoming releases I've got to sstart being a bit more careful with my money or there won't be a Christmas this year.

I'm not really sold on the whole metallic finish...I've never been. It would just look out of place with all the other gokins that don't have it.
I can at least track down the older release of Afrodite A instead, it's not too pricey.
