Wow that's cool... and shiny I really do like the metallic finish on this figure. It doesn't ruin the palette, like on Voltes... Also, I wasn't really 100% convinced of the boxart, because of its modern looks. But now it's growing on me. See how the box is fearsome-looking? With the dark color shades, and the red and the black...? The GX-01R+ head perfectly fits with it, since it's the meanest between the SoC Mazingers

Are those scratches on the right bicep? }| Looks like it, and chipped paint or something like that on the left fist. Looks like this guy got a bad one, but I've seen that before with other brand new SOCs. Still, this Mazinger Z looks much better here to me than it did in the promotional photos.

Rubber fists, so most likely overspray from the silver used in the finger joints and wrist. Even the Scrander's Belt Buckle seems to have some paint issues. }|

chipped off or some sloppy paint apps from Bandai??? Assuming that you are not being sarcastic, the answer is yes. I've seen it at least with several GX-05R Daikus and a couple of GX-10 Boss Robots.

Are you saying that you believe SOCs never come with paint imperfections out of the box? If that's the case, then I am very happy for you that you have had nothing but good experiences with your SOCs. As for pictures, look above at the new GX-01R 40th Anniversary.

The weathered metallic paint job looks killer! I'm buying one of these now! I was previously only interested in the Voltes as I already have a billion and one Mazingers and frankly I'm getting tired of the reprints repaints retools. But between the box and the paint job now that I can see what it looks like in the hands. Oh yes. This will be mine.

I have to admit, up close that Maz looks beautiful... maybe it's the pics? I dunno. By the way, Thanks for posting those pics- at least they're Wallpaper-worthy! I also must say, this is the first Mazinger-Z SOC figure whose face I can actually See. The other previous Mazinger SOCs (the GX-01 and GX-01R) have their faces a bit too dark, and the GX-02R's face is dark as well... I might just touch them up with a blue shade like this one, I'll wait and see. The blue on this guy's face and fore-limbs all stand out very nicely. zozo-mag

Excluding the 01R+ of course. Judging by memory, it looks like it's in between the regular 01R and the 01R+. Not too dark, not too light. Even though it's not anime accurate this way, but WHO CARES, we're in for the metallic paintjob right??

There really can't be, if they are action figures with joints. Unless is a modern Super Robot like GaoGaiGar and such. }D

The modern robots and mechas are still visually fresh references with consistency in their anime renderings, that's why their toys come out close to their source materials.
Whereas, the super-robots date so far back that toy companies have to make an extra effort referring to the original source material... and before they can find the closest loyal rendition they have to sift through tons of artists' renderings to find the best rendition to base their reference for what would become a toy product of the original source.
