Exactly! The DX was 99.9999% a one time release for the father of Super Robots. I have a feeling no other Super Robot will sell as well in Japan if given the DX treatment. And we all know it is the Japanese market, and no other, that dictates what Bandai makes... }D

I don't think the DX line was intended to be one time thing but rather it didn't meet expectations. As nice as he was the price was just too expensive for a lot of people. Honestly, I'm surprised we haven't seen a reissue of him with out the base. That would not only cut down of the cost of the figure but also the shipping.

I have no idea how well/bad DX mazinger Z sold. As long as Bandai can make money out of it, there is always a chance for another DX.

There was no "DX SOC" line. In order to be a "line" it has to have more than one character in it. The Soul of Popynica was a line because it had four or five releases before it withered away. I'm pretty sure Bandai just added the "DX" designation next to the SOC just because it was a far more intricate and expensive figure than anything they had released in the Soul of Chogokin line. However, like I said, that didn't mean that Bandai was establishing a DX SOC line of figures. Like many have said before, I would definitely would love to see a Great Mazinger and UFO Grendizer getting a DX treatment. Unfortunately, I think the chances of that happening - for those two or any other character - are pretty much nil... }D

It's just wishful thinking from Voltes V fans... Bandai is known to cater to the Japanese fans so I wonder how popular Voltes V is in Japan? Mazinger is the king and how far down does Voltes go in rankings? Thoughts?

As far as combining robots go, I think Combattler still has a higher fanbase in Japan. But, in terms of the rest of the world, Voltes rules. Indonesia and The Philippines alone has huge big voltes fan bases - and probably Italy too.
The ignorant me thought that Combattler was a Voltes rip-off when I first saw it, when it was the other way around, Combattler preceded Voltes.

There was no "DX SOC" line. In order to be a "line" it has to have more than one character in it. Bandai was experimenting they've done this before. Around the time this was revealed they also announced a 12in Wild Tiger figure and also a 12 Godzilla figure. Mazinger and Tiger made it out the doors but Godzilla never did. Sure Bandai has tons of money but their not stupid enough to invest a line of figures this expensive if a heavy like Mazinger Z doesn't preform well.

Well, to tell the truth, right now Bandai has a DX spec-ed 1/35 Metal Fix Figuration RX-78-2 Gundam in planning, so the idea is not truly dead...
But it's also been a while since I've seen an update about that, so who knows.

Many if us believe we will never see another DX. That was a one time thing. I will be happy to be wrong but I think people need to stop hoping for it and getting disappointed It really does kind of give me the impression that they expect a DX Voltes to happen just because they wish for one really, really, really, really hard. The ignorant me thought that Combattler was a Voltes rip-off when I first saw it, when it was the other way around, Combattler preceded Voltes. I used to think Golion was a ripoff of Combattler/Voltes until I found out they were all made by the same people I thought the same too... As I saw Voltes V first and then saw Combattler years later. I remember not liking Combattler as it seems like there was no story plot. Maybe I was just being biased... You're not. It's true. Combattler is very much a monster of the week show with no real story going on for it. Voltes is the one with the meat.

Bandai can be completely stupid and arrogant just like any big corporation like Apple, MS, GM, Sony, Net Flix....the list goes on and on.
Just look at that ugly junk bot combo they just announced and that horrid getter themed SRC Maz..anything is possible so let's not lose hope.

BTW, Voltes V was the undisputed king of robots in the Phils, alright. Even non-collectors wants to have a piece of him. Hes that popular. Hehe yeah, that's very true, it's very popular mainly because the series was a big hit on TV and was just 4 episodes away from ending when the government at the time pulled the program due to the series finale featuring rebellion against a tyrannical regime. The Philippines was already under Martial Law for 9 years during the time and they considered the show something seditional (I know, it's a cartoon right?). In the end,the regime did collapse due to a revolution from all sectors of the populace and I guess most of us folk consider Voltes' ending as something that's a reflection of our own history in one way or another. That plus the fact that the story was pretty good even by today's cartoon standards. Gold hehe,, nice trip back down the memory lane Gold,, Although it seems unusual, Voltes became part of the nation's history.

Gold hehe,, nice trip back down the memory lane Gold,, Although it seems unusual, Voltes became part of the nation's history. A bit off topic... Pulling the cartoon was such a shock to most young people and I guess it was really their first taste of oppression that a few years later, the revolution that toppled the same tyrannical regime was supported by the same young people whose Voltes V was taken way about 5-6 years later. Most of whom are in their teens now... I mean, people were mad... the young people were mad too but maybe did not know why at the time... So, if the government did not pull Voltes V from the air in 1979-80, then the Philippine People Power Revolution in 1986 MAY have ended differently. Back to the topic... Voltes V DX will probably won`t happen... But it sure is fun to dream for one...
