so it seems the 40th anniv. version.. the lower leg/shins can be extended unlike the first 2 versions... Ok had to check, just did ..you can extend the leg on all of them its how you fold the wheels in,its not new,you can even see it in the pic above with combattler/Voltes Gold took.Bandai is for some reason trying to show it as a new gimmick, making them extended in the pic of all 3 so he looks taller, also the one with the gun..all Voltes can do it,ALL molds same. BTW OT .. Actually the new one is closer to GX-31 in that there are NO stickers,AND the antennaes are not chromed.

The legs extending is part of the transformation on all of them. Well, it's really part of the landing gear going down. I'm too lazy to dig out my Voltes' right now but I remember how I'd play with the mechanism. Having the legs extended would not hold up the weight of the figure unless they somehow made it tighter.

So, is there any definitive improvement on the mold... like on the crotch joints?

Regardless, not sure where you can even find GX-31V (40th) right now without getting significantly scalped. You may want to wait if HLJ or Amiami gets some second-runs and priced at least at msrp. Thanks for the tip! I'll scour around for a bit, perhaps HLJ or Amiami will happen to get more. I got an email tonight from Nippon-Yasan that they're back in stock, but looks like their price went up ($255.48 USD). Thanks for everyone else's posts too.

I don't know when we'll be getting ours in the PH, but I am super curious to see the effect of swapping around the Crewzer, Lander and the sword crest/chest piece with the 31 and 40th. Anyone care to try it when they get theirs?
I really think the blue on the 40th is the most cartoon accurate, the problem lies in the candy color metallic red. Seems off-putting in some shots (depending on the angle of light...?).

Is it me, or are the original and GX-31V not gone down in price? I may just pull the trigger on the 40th anniversary version, but I've been on the fence getting an earlier version. This is my first post, so pardon my newbiness. If I was after a GX Voltes now (on the condition I never owned one before), I'd probably use my efforts to get the 40th Anniversary Edition. If you can get a GX-31 new on eBay (if there isn't much difference in prices between 40th version), then it's a toss up. You would be paying a premium prices for GX-31V Respect edition.

The GX-31V is out of reach for me...I can't justify paying those prices. Seems like a tossup between the original GX-31 and the 40th...some like the SA blue of the 40th, but are put off by the candy apple red. My concern about getting the original if I go that route are the faulty pieces I've been reading (true? overblown?), and not being able to convert it to a Volt Tank, not that it's a deal-breaker for me.

It all comes down to: Wanna display a Voltes next to GX-03 Combattler? Get the GX-31. Wanna display a Voltes next to GX-50 Combattler? Get the 40th anniversary version. Wanna spend an unjustifiable amount of money for a Chogokin that could've looked even better (blame Bandai cost-cutting everything)? Get the GX-31V.

The only problem with the GX-31 is the flimsy crotch and the tank mode which never happened in the anime. Other than that the GX-31 is really an awesome figure.

Voltes V now at ¥30,000 at Nippon Yasan. Ouch! WTF...theyre really asking premium money for Voltes V. Is it really worth the money? Even if you own the previous release? With the Canadian dollar down, Im having mixed feelings with this release.

At least, that's what they usually do with the dx-chogokin bandai macross-valkyries...

Just got it today, GX-31V (40th anniversary) from HLJ. Did not open it yet but on initial look the box is smaller than GX-31 or GX-31V.

They allow us? Why in the world of Super Robots will they NOT allow collectors to buy a high demand toy from them? Off course they will, theyre in the realm of toy business.... ...thou theres a price to pay Id be more shock if they've FORBID us to buy a high demand toy from them....lol
