Looks like those Voltes V 40th Anniversary shortages were true. Tried calling the local toy store yesterday if they have stocks but they said their suppplies are only for those who pre-ordered and looks like they won't have plans having stocks for walk-in customers such as myself. Bandai sure shot themselves in the foot for this marketing decision.
The only consolation I will get from this dilemma is to finally acquire that SOC Daltanious this coming week.

Actually, its not uncommon for retaliers to allocate stock only to customers who pre-ordered, so as not to overstock on certain items. The problem with voltes 40th ann is that even pre-orders might experience stock cuts. Guess bandai under-estimated its demand again.
However, if you are still keen, its available at NY.

Yes, the shocking thing about it is that even those who pre-ordered might not even get their piece, which is quite simply appalling. I'll say it again, Bandai shot themselves in the foot for this decision.

From what i observed, when its sold out at amiami, it usually remains so. Applicable to high demand items such as metal build gundams, chogokin dx and of course, voltes v.
NY on the other hand, are known to acquire extra stock from various retailers in Japan, and prices will fluctuate (usually only go upwards) according to their cost price. But looking at the bright side, its still available there should you need one.

Hi all, here's the review for the Soul of Chogokin Gx-31 Voltes Five - 40th Anniversary Edition. Voltes V Opening Credits -Interesting to note, the display tray has been redesigned to make the whole thing a bit smaller and thus, making the 40th Anniversary Voltes box smaller than the previous editions. 40th Anniv version Original and Gx-31V Note: The location of the Lander halves in the styro tray is now reversed (right foot on the left side of the tray and vice versa). This is done to accomodate the Lander's fins and make the overall box smaller. Volt Machines Volt Cruiser Opening canopy Crew Cutters (same as the previous versions, just painted silver "blades"). IMPORTANT NOTEWatchout for the Cruisers tires, they can fall of easily. Mine popped while I was positioning the Cruiser. Good thing the backdrop is green so it sticks out, had this fallen on the floor I would've dismissed it as nothing but plastic bits. So be mindful. Volt Bomber Volt Panzer Volt Frigate Volt Lander Volt Lander Drills Let's Volt In! Voltes Five! One of the biggest worries I think for most folks was the way the metallic red came out in the early online images. I'm glad to report that, in person, it actually looks good. It all depends on the lighting but in natural light it works very well with Voltes' new shade of blue. Voltes in action Voltes Missile!Chain Knuckle!"Firing" Chain Knuckle Voltes Bazooka!Bazooka bullets. Similar to the Gx-31V, the Bazooka fires missiles when you push back the hand. Grand Fire!Choudenji String!Choudenji Goma! Tenkuu Ken!TenKuu Ken V-Slash!Volt Tank modeMecha Falcon / Mechanical EagleMecha Falcon comes with the Chodenji Volt Control device (which regulated Voltes' new upgraded power levels later on in the show) Comparisons with the Gx-31 (sorry, I was a bit under the weather and couldn't dig out the Gx-31V for comparisons). Darker shade of yellow on the Chodenji Strings. Using the Gx-31V elbow design allows for a double-jointed elbow now. Mix and Match With Gx-31 (for those curious ) Accessory Display Base The Gx-31V and Gx-31 display base The Good-The Weigh in --Volt Cruiser - 26 Grams --Volt Bomber - 85 Grams --Volt Panzer -173 Grams --Volt Frigate -273 Grams --Volt Lander -160 Grams -Mecha Falcon/Mechanical Eagle - 6 (!!) Grams. (lol...) --Voltes V - 728 Grams -Diecast parts include --Rear section of the Volt Crewzer --Shoulders --Main torso --Lower legs (thighs are plastic) --Top halves of the feet -Painted "Falcon" on the display base (the Gx-31V was just plain white, unpainted plastic) -Chromed Lander parts! Finally! -I'm really loving the new shades of blue for the c0ckpit canopies. -Voltes is perfect now, the joints are excellent and Voltes feels really, really solid. A far, far cry from the issues that plagued the original Gx-31. The Bad-Simple manual (only the covers are colored, no colored "internal" illustrations). -Simplified tray. The past Gx-31 and 31V had some form of graphic "overlay" on the styro tray, sort of like a throwback to the vintage toy. This time we get nothing. -The wrist pegs still pop off too easily, just like on the Gx-31V -It's still basically a repaint of the Gx-31V (with the exception of the Frigate and Lander antennae). No new tooling here. The UglyHmm.. nothing really bad with the toy, but I hate that whole worldwide "shortage" issue, what's up with that Bandai? This thing easily took off on the preorders and yet Bandai didn't fill the pre-orders. I'll never understand how these big companies think. Very unfortunate. This figure is now my "go-to" Voltes figure, hands down. I loved the 31V mainly due to the improved joints but the "non-cartoon-accurate" paint scheme made it look hard to really pose next to the other SOCs, while the (ankle and groin) joint issues with the original Gx-31 made it difficult to pose. The 40th Anniversary version is by far the most superior one to date. I really hope Bandai makes another production run for those who still need this figure. Voltes Ending Credits Gold

Thanks, Gold! I know very little about Voltes V, and I'm not interested in this toy, yet I enjoyed this review very much. I think it's very clever how instead of showing a step by step transformation of the toy, you show a video of the transformation in the anime. Great job!

Great review, Gold! I'm in that group where I'm pining for the 40th version. I may just get the original GX-31 to at least squelsh my appetite for now.

Thanks Mechanical Flash. Darkfriar, I hope your figure is securely on it's way, did the seller provide tracking? This figure is annoying understocked everywhere. Excellent review Gold! BTW, I noticed that shipper box. Is that for multiples? Thanks Ozmalee, yes the shipper box stores up to 6 units of Voltes. I requested it from the store, just for personal posterity. I don't usually do this for all SOCs, just for ones that really matter to me (I got only the old Gx-31, the Daimos and the GGG plus this one, the only one I'm missing is from the Gx-31V, totally forgot to request it until it was too late. ) I also went and collected the shipper box from the SRC GGG figures. They're all collapsed, plastic-wrapped up (With silica gel packets inside) and stored away. I'm funny that way. Thanks Mecha-mecha, the red turned out nicely IMHO. Thanks, Gold! I know very little about Voltes V, and I'm not interested in this toy, yet I enjoyed this review very much. I think it's very clever how instead of showing a step by step transformation of the toy, you show a video of the transformation in the anime. Great job! Thanks for the kind words Robofestivus, I hope I don't get sued one day though hehe. I hope you can checkout the Voltes series, the story is very good, even by modern story-telling standards. I agree S_Gokin, I think it's highly likely we'll see them do a Daimos reissue of somesort soon. They already gave us newer versions of Combattler and Voltes, so Daimos could be next..? Maybe a repaint again? Thanks Jacques. I really, really hope Bandai does something to appease the folks who want to get this figure. It's just poor business sense to disappoint the customer base.
