thanks ... so it is clear its up to you bro but an advice always go with PayPal save your self a headache and buy your peace of mind Oh hells no! No! No! No! A thousand times no! Pre Paid Via PayPal is horrible to use for preorders. Your protections for preordered items are only in place for a limited time. 3 or 6 months. If the merchant takes longer than that you are outside your dispute period. You have no recourse. Just ask some of the Transformers guys about pre orders for Apollonyon from Acestoystore. And that was just last month. When end preordering something that will take an extended period to deliver, a traditional Credit Card is your best option and best protection. As much as reasonably possible seek merchants that do not require pre pay, or limit it to a small reasonable deposit. Typically no more than 20% of the final price. If the merchant is seeking full price up front for a regular release pre order (as opposed to a special order just for you) then chances are they do not have sufficient, or more likely any business credit lines, and are instead using you for that purpose. This is not a scam or in any way improper. But it is not a particularly safe way of doing business for you the end customer. Products get cancelled or changed. Merchants run into difficulties. The currency exchange and shipping rates may change. Lots of things can happen when the product will take 9+ months to be delivered. Heck those HLPro Gattaigers just took 2 years. Anybody who paid up front via PayPal for one of those has no guarantees or recourse beyond the honesty and ethics of the merchant they dealt with.

They solidly protect you. But that 180 day counter starts when the money changes hands. On day 181 they cannot help you. If you prepay for a preorder and 18 months later it fails to show up or is not as advertised PayPal offers no protection or recourse. You cannot dispute a transaction past 180 days.

Yeah, that's what happened to me with Anime Island. I pre-ordered and pre-paid for the GX-01R 40th using PayPal, but it was never delivered. Fortunately, Anime Island was cool about it and issued a full refund, no dispute was necessary. Otherwise I would have been screwed as the deadline for a PayPal dispute had already passed.

Thanks for this. I've been eyeing this since last year. Was able to order 2 units early today for shipment to my cousin in Japan (one for me, one for my wife). Just in time for my visit in December. I can't ship to the Philippines because local customs charges up to 100% for tax and duties. This will be my first robot by the way.

apart from coverage, which is very important, how about charges? i know paypal charges something like 3.3% (value derived from the constant payments to paypal) on top of providing poor currency coversion rates. but how about credit card charges for internet transaction? apologies for going OT.
