Thanks for the headsup, managed to grab one too. Wow! this really came out of the blue, no writeups, no previews and no prototype.

This is probably the easiest one to get so far. Makes you think maybe they should just release all of them as Premium bandai and we'll all just PO it from NY instead of the torturous preorder madness lol. Of course we lose the discount other sellers usually have and the price actually goes up a bit. Which one would you prefer? Cheap but a pain to get or a tad more pricey but so much easier to get?

Btw, did any bros who preordered hi metal r roy fokker from NY paid or asked to pay for it? There is a pay later option provided (which i chose), however, the item is listed as a "bandai premium" item. Usually in such cases, NY will demand payment for it soon.

I chose the pay it later option. I'm assuming as well that I'll have to pay a couple of months before actual release which is fine With me as long as it's not right now hehe.

How much diecast is there in these guys? I have long wanted some nice stable, weighty, durable and smoothly transforming Macross/Robotech entries to me collection. These look to fit the bill nicely (Yay! Even some classic Robotech "unseen" Mecha!) But my experiences with Toynami's horrid plastic junk has left me paranoid about Valk's.

But my experiences with Toynami's horrid plastic junk has left me paranoid about Valk's. actually very minimal diecast. the parts swapping puts me off as well, so much so i got my son to set up the armored valk for me haha but to be fair, being the armoured version, i suppose numerous parts swapping is inevitable. actually if want a good mix of weighty, stable and smooth transforming valk, imo you cant beat the vintage takatoku valks. second place goes to dx chogokin valks (although superior in looks and design, the transforming process is a tad tough for me.

did they redesign the wing roots to lose that godawful C-clamp swappable wing option?
in my disappointing experience with my own 2010 VF-1S STRIKE Focker, at least, this seems the 1/100 HI-METAL VF-1's Achelles' heel, and easily the worst of the engineering team's design failings holding these VF-1 toys back from what they could and should have been.
structural durability of a key moving component in the design totally compromised for the sake of an option feature of arguably little-to-no relative value.
color me impressed, BANDAI...
