Had some fun with this figure, because of its size and articulations. Though I expected they used different (plastic) materials.

Got mine at a very good price. But the 'toy god' is not with me once again and got a sample with quite a few flaws. 3 corners of the red diecast chest are chipped. One eye wasn't printed as centered, and the antenna sits a little crooked. Some plastic scuffs around a couple screw holes on the feet, and one leg has a misaligned ratchet thigh swivel so that the left leg can never face perfectly straight. Some ratchets are slightly inconsistent in terms of clickiness (one side louder or tighter but not the other). Looks like its the only flawed figure I've seen out of all feedback and reviews out there. Even my buddy got a very nice one from the same shop.
A solid great 9/10 without much bells and whistles. But I'll give mine a 8/10 with all those small flaws.

Got mine from ActionRobo.com when most stores were out a couple weeks back. Its a HK based shop specialized in 3rd Party TFs. Think they ran out though, last I checked.

ActionRobo has them in stock again. www.actionrobo.com/index/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=325&search=Daitetsujin+I was ordering one on AmiAmi a few minutes ago and it went out of stock between logging in and checking out. T_T So I checked ActionRobo and was happy to see they have some. I have wanted a D17 for years. I stopped paying attention a while back and had no idea this figure existed until today. I'm practically bursting with glee, especially knowing that other transforming one is coming soon too!

Damn, was thinking to order one from Amiami last night... miss it. Not sure now, because CAD is so weak now, I try not to get stuff from US.

What about Action Robo? They're in Hong Kong. Thanks. But I think Action Robo charge their goods in US dollar... Amiami charge us in Yen, Canada dollar has much better dollar conversion rate!

Does anyone know when Imagine's Daitetsujin 18 is going to be released or what shops will be selling it? I watched the review mpci posted and I'm really eager to get one now. I love those piercing yellow eyes!

Don't get too excited about Imagine's D17 yet, as their D18 got mixed reviews from what I've read from Toysdaily, unlike the World Scope one. The weathering is exceptionally bad, spraying way too much black on the figure that looked like it was burnt, when those are supposed to be very subtle shading on joints and parts (there are a couple samples that have nicer shading on Toysdaily, but they are completely re-painted by the owner). I haven't seen the Imagine's D17 prototype still, but folks that saw it wasn't very excited about it. So I'll go with a "wait & see" attitude on it before putting any money on preorder. Their QC sure isn't great on the paint app. Especially when Imagine is a very new company, releasing a non-licensed D17. I heard rumors they are the guys behind the Miracle Vehicle Voltron a while back. I hope it turns out good though.

So has the D18 been released then? I'd love to get one despite mixed reviews. I haven't been able to find any online shops selling it. I actually really like that deco on the photos you posted.

Couldn't find it online so far, but D18 is indeed out in Hong Kong, for at least a few weeks if not longer. Here is World Scope's D18 prototype for comparison. P.S. ActionRobo.com bumped up the price. Used to be US$109 when I bought mine...

That Worlds Scope 18 looks great. Man, after so many years of wanting modern Daitetsujin toys it's crazy to think we're getting two really great looking 17s and 18s right around the same time. Can't wait for AR to ship my World Scope 17 so I can hug it! ^_^
