How popular is she? I have zero idea about this character. lol. I just know there's a lot of merchandise based on her. That said, it's true, there's no new SOC or SRC reveal at the Tamashii Nations. Bummer.... guess our wallets can rest easy with just Gunbuster, Grendizer with Spacer, Hi Metal R Macross VF1S and armored 1J as the only new releases for the second half of 2015. ... man, and to think I got my hopes up that they would produce SOC SRX.. crap... I'd say that, to many people, it's practically a goddess: they buy everything with her name on it. So no doubt, this will sell great in Japan. In Japan. In Japan Too bad I'm not a brainwashed 40-year-old Japanese who's infatuated with a vocaloid, Bandai. That's too bad. And since that applies to almost everyone else here, well, I don't think this will sell great outside.

To add more context, Hatsune Miku is the mascot for a voice synthesizer program, Vocaloid, that allows users to create songs using her voice. It's the fan work (music videos, songs, etc...) around her that made her this popular. She has no source material (like anime, manga, etc...) to speak of, so I'm not that big of a fan, but I understand her popularity.
I have no idea what she turns into, though.

They did Miku non SD version a few years back already. While she is a widely popular character in Japan, I get the sense that the Miku fan base don't overlap with chogokin collector in Japan. Perhaps they are trying to see if Miku fan base overlap with SD collectors. Gotta be some money somewhere and Bandai is trying to find it.

yeah thats what i dont get.... theres def some missing link here. make a decent src of mazingers sidekick robot or badguy robot with the current bandai joint tech and enough die-cast, that should fly off the shelf.
what is the hang up? you telling me licensing bossborrot or kikaizu is more expensive harder to come by then Maz himself? then how is ET pulling all these cool characters? huh? you dont see them makeing..."tame" characters like bandai on their cool line.
dont mind me guys. im letting off some steam, and not trying to argue with any bros in particular. maybe with Bandai chogokin brand manager. i do like what im seeing on Hi-Metal R Macross.

Bandai saw where the money is.. next thing ull know theres a reiisue coming up hehe...

You can buy all the Evolution stuff there is it still won't change Bandai's mind since Evolution probably doesn't sell 5% of what Bandai makes. Also unless other markets start to voice AND buy in amounts that surpass the Japanese market then you pretty much have little hope of controlling Bandai. Stuff like this has huge cross market appeal while fans of SR have a very specific want and let's face it we as a whole are a very small market, the good thing is that we tend to cross into other markets like Gundam or Transformer. But the old school, SR only collector market is tiny and getting smaller the only thing is that the market usually has a very high level of disposable income to spend on their hobby.

Bandai saw where the money is.. next thing ull know theres a reiisue coming up hehe... Bandai (Japan) does NOT cater to the wants of customers outside Japan. That's why they focus on the wish lists of the Japanese folks, no matter how stupid we think the characters on those wish lists are. For us outsiders, the have "lesser" branches, like Bandai America. Yeah, we get Power Rangers instead... Bandai's re-issue of any figure has probably been planned from the same moment the initial production run was done, not because it was sold out the first time, or because folks outside Japan want it. They are not fools, and have been in business for a very long time. I'm pretty sure they know exactly what they are doing. The stuff that flops, like SRC Crayola robot, is just bread crumbs to them. }D

well then they will go away in a way of sony. Bandai is not infalable... nothing is. like toyota, tho they make some out right obtuse decisions, i doubt bandai thinks global market is not as important as domestic.
they have key global branches with distribution partners for a reason. Bandai is buying up us licenses because its global phenom, like ironman and starwars, both owned by an outsider company, disney. they care about global market more then we think. otherwise they would have let jgrey market or 3 rd party take care of us.
Bandai is making a mistake by producing this fool license for our beloved chogokin line, even if they are just considering domestic market ..... if they think current age bracket market for chogokin is dead , then they need to move to next decade licenses. meaning look at the license that was popular doring 80s and 90 s, not currently trending property.
in short, we matter to Bandai more then before. keep voting with your dollar. so if you want something cool, keep ignoring this crap Bandai chogokin brand manager is experimenting with and do buy up cool license toys from sentinel and ET.

Bandai Japan only cares about Japan, period. The fact they made Marvel figures us because they sell well in Japan. Those figures main intent was not to sell well outdide Japan. They are meant for the Japanese folks. If they had been meant for outside Japan sales, the first thing they would have is an all-English language packing. Not so in those. Just because online stores get them from Bandai and sell them abroad does not mean Bandai Japan intendef them for that purpose. Like I said, Bandai has lesser branches licated outside Japan to cater to the folks in those regions. Bandai Japan is for Japan.
