The key question is, is the exclusive the "metallic paint edition"? Or is it the mold?

I'm guessing in a couple of months, Toynami will come out with a "normal" version of this in larger quantities.

huh.... I kind of hate this but want to get it at the con. But yeah knowing that toynami like some other companies simply does future mass releases of con exclusives really ticks me off. Guarantee there is a regular version after.

I hate these con exclusives. I sure hope they have a reg release as well.
If anyone will be a sdcc and can pick me up one please let me know.

Im sure they will. Their previous "metallic" versions have simply been regular versions with a top coat of pearl metallic paint. Thats probably what they did with this one. I hate these con exclusives. I sure hope they have a reg release as well. If anyone will be a sdcc and can pick me up one please let me know.

Bro went to buy me one and they are sold out... where'd they go? Ebay of course!
Turns out they got little opening doors on the heads where little SD pilots are stored. The box is also done to look like the Matchbox Voltron. Cant load photo right now

I bit the bullet and ordered one from a scalper; not that bad, he got me for 70$ (Plus purchase help me decide I don't need superion set that I now have for sale. Unopened, for now. Trying to prioritize) A image on toy ark site confirms a "regular" version will be released. Release date "to be announced" (5th pic from the bottom up) news.toyark.com/2015/07/09/sdcc-2015-toynami-voltron-165819Did I mention how much I hate con exclusives.

So $70 on top of the price of the item correct? That's not too bad considering the price of admission to the con, the price of transportation to the con and the wait time a person has to use to buy the con exclusive. I too hate the mark up on con exclusive but sometimes the trade off isn't too bad. I remember a couple years back at sdcc, people actually paid me while I was in line at the Hasbro booth to help them buy stuff. Items I didn't want anyway so I made a couple of bucks. But in hindsight, I would rather pay a couple bucks more to have that person wait in line for me. Wasted an entire day waiting. Had to wake up extremely early to wait in line to get a buying ticket then wait in line again to actually buy the items. The whole process stinks at sdcc.

Man, that's gotta be a hard kick in the maracas. I've never been to any cons, so this opened my eyes. I never imagined a con could be that stressful ( and all that trouble just to get in and buy the actual items... it seems almost cut-throat) Now I guess I'm learning what to look out for. Thanks for sharing. zozo-mag

The thing with SDCC is that it's for all types of entertainment media. So it's not just a comic convention but all forms of media entertainment goes there to promote, movies, TV shows, video games etc...And do note there is a big difference between a convention and a trade show. Conventions are for convening and are supposed to be informative. That's why promoters go there to advertise, give out freebies to get you to buy more of their stuff. Some People attending conventions sometime get disappointed due to the lack of vendors there. If the intent was to buy stuff, then the person is actually looking for a trade show. Trade show are all about buying and selling. Convention exclusive is another form of promoting the brand and also kind of a souvenir piece.

Looks very tempting. Not crazy about the grumpy kid face though.

Was pleasantly surprised with the box too. Thought it was pretty clever combining the full art on one side and cut out on the other.
