So... see the popy sticker variations...now look closely and see the white sticker of Popy. Which came first? I saw a recent post on this subject, but has anyone seen the white popy sticker on this black lion before. -Another variation is shown beside it. Ed

Are the window covers different too? It looks like the black lion is covered by the logo in the top second pictures. If so I have never seen that box version either. Does the lion with white oval come from that set? If so I will assume that set is older. The bottom set looks more typical from Popy Golion, through Godaikin Golion, to Lionbot versions. So maybe the upper version is like a first run, but it didn't show off black lion so the box was changed to a more failure style? This also led to not needing extra logos on the toy beyond GB-36 decal. Just a theory.

The top pictures are mine I had posted it and no one seems to answer the thread just hypothesize, I have a red oval sticker as well. The white is from the set. Both above are complete. The red oval sticker supposedly is first run, then white then non...or....

Looks to me like someone made a sticker to make this appear to be first run but There are some pretty good indications this is not first run. I Put my money in thos being a set that was made more recently and someone replaced the heads with a set of yellowed heads keeping the best bits for their personal display then selling it. Id like to see real good pics of the box and Lions and the top of the joints on the red and green. The very first run There is no doubt when you have one of them. I will Look at my collection tomorrow and have a dedinite answer about the labels. The very first run cello is plain at the top lettering and has colors where the Lions are numbered red green etc. I believe I posted about this a while back. I have a set that is so mint It's insane but one lion has the rear inner leg unchromed and came with an upside down star. The very first version has a gold label in the left too corner instead of silver has sehmented tails and many more differences that were changed in production runs

I appreciate it crpdiablos, that way the next time I'm in Japan I'll tell my friend. I have a bunch of popy, golions directly from friends over there so I like insight from diehard collectors in the states as I'm a young guy in my twenties but because of martial arts have been able to travel and make friends and become friends with sons of my dad's friends. I got into them because I was a given one as a gift then I wanted to purchase one from a collector on here but it never panned out. So luckily I was in Japan and Friends there were able to hook me up. Be advised the pictures are confusing you as to which body belongs to which box and black lion etc. They are two totally complete sets. The one with the yellowing has no sticker. The question was why did they not place a white sticker or not at all for that matter still being a popy set??? So I put a black lion with a white oval sticker next to it for comparison. Also the box emblem as its zoomed in is yellow unlike the standard brown. My question on that regard is how come? I can send you pictures of each set directly via email. This is why your coming up with your assumptions because those pictures are not laying out each set separately besides my Japanese friends and I are amused by how collectors take this stuff seriously. Looking forward to you entertaining us! Thank you for your reply!

I definitely think that is a jumbled up golion from various pieces though the black lion is an early one. I have a very early chrome joint Popy Golion. The yellow lion has a segmented tail just like the one pictured on the box and the Black lion has the red popy sticker along with different shaped shoulders.

Both crpdiablos, and the junior bot ironmonkey responses are wrong but hopeful. I'll be linking my photobucket with detailed pictures of all my popy complete sets as I received in Japan as honorary gifts from my friends over there. Red popy white popy and no popy I even have ones from Japanese friends saying that the preproduction molds in 2 particular sets were trials! It's customary for them and you accept what they give you. They knew I was into voltron as a kid so when I was training there at various martial arts Schools. I'll be posting the link so and hopefully I do it right seeing ad I'm not much of a technology nerd and worse case a member can help me do it. It's amusing how some collectors hope to have the only pristine mint ones when these were produced for children am many made it years later unused. Especially sad when some collectors are old enough be my dad's age and live from this stuff only where as I fell into thsee sets from my Japanese Friends who said don't bother with Voltron this is the real deal! I will be putting up the photobucket to show 3 complete sets, one with red popy Kanji, white, and no.

I know how to link your pictures but it's a lengthy processs and it's hard to explain. Basically you have to write a line for each picture. For each picture you need to use [ img]the link and [/img] Again hard to explain. If you quote me, you can see just how long the post is just to show all your pictures
Can you download the other 2 sets white and red popy...

I could but was really trying to relay to you just how long it takes to do so. I had to copy each picture from your Photobucket and paste them line per line to create the post. It's like half an hour to edit and make that post. Maybe faster if I had a laptop or some computer but I am doing all this on a iPhone which makes it even more time consuming
