Masterpiece Transformers, Diaclone V2, 3rd Party Masterpiece-style figures, 3rd Party IDW-style figures, Generations figures, Titans Return, Robots In Disguise, Transformers Adventure. There is no shortage of Transformers-related toys coming out right now, and that’s just the brand new shiny, nevermind older figures that one may wish to seek out and add. Very few have the budget to manage all of their collection needs and wants in the face of such a product onslaught as official and unofficial sources vie for our attention. Inevitably, collectors are forced to sell toys in order to fund newer purchases. This week we asked our contributors to look at why it can be so difficult to sell our Transformers. Yeah it is tough to sell. So for many reasons i just donate unwanteds for tax write off..
I realized late in life one Needs to budget hard, and dont buy whatever fancy you. Buy few pieces you really really love. Look at all the pics and maybe even wait for the review.....does it look good in thumbnail as in glamour close up shots? If you think you will still love it 5 years down the road. Get it...
Like everything in life, 80 percent of anything is just pure garbage. People, cars, movies....everything applies to this rule imho. Transformers are no exception. 80 percent will end up in landfill. That means narrowing your hunt to 20 percent of whats being released. Out of that 20 percent, spend all your toy budget on 1 to 5 percent on what you really really love.
do that, then you will be fine. I myself am just eyeballing two more pieces this year.... 2 more pieces for next six month. They are premium pieces costing upwards of Two to three hundred dollars but theyre ton better then twenty $15 garbage.....or two or three $100 garbage in case of 3P Transformers.

If the "High Metal R Monster" has less metal then SRC Giant Robo, its bye bye.

As we get older and a bit more mature, we tend to tone down on our toy buying habits. Before, as soon as I started working, I used to buy everything Transformers made by Takara ( I started with TF Collections and ended with TF Animated). You name it I have them, all the characters and 3 of the same kind for what I deem my favorites in all TF series.
After much debate over my spending habits and lack of space to house my ever-growing collections, I have learned to let go and focus on things I really like, which nowadays comprise of GO Nagai SOC/SRC's, TF Masterpiece, Gundam Metal Builds and Macross Hi-Metal R's. It may still seem a fairly sizable indulgence but I've learned to curb my toy-spending bloodlust to levels I can still comfortably afford and control.
