I hope Bandai do another run for Voltron so more people can enjoy this masterpiece. My guess as to why we don't have a second wave is that the WEP license may have expired. Yeah,I hope to all the Gods of Mecha that such is not the case but this is my best guess as to why we are not getting more SoC Voltrons despite how amazingly it sold. Even when BigBadToyStore raised the price twice it quickly sold out in month's time.

Even when BigBadToyStore raised the price twice it quickly sold out in month's time. Oh Gods no! Highly unlikely. Licenses don't expire that fast unless specifically cancelled by one party or the other. Even a quick one shot license will normally carry 24 months. The license has to cover not just the production, but the products expected or planned retail shelf life. WEP as a company is pretty much an IP holder and license issuer these days. I can't imagine them going for anything less than 24 months. It simply is not worth their time or effort to issue a license for less. You don't want to tie up your IP in constant onsies twosies short hops. It devalues it. Just from eyeballing it I would guess that Bandai is maybe 10 months into what is likely a 24 month contract. Maybe 12 months if they kept it secret a bit while it was in effect? Just to remind everyone, GX-71 is NOT a discontinued product. It is still in the current catalog. Which means there will be no pre-orders or release dates announced. If or when more are made they will simply become available, going from "Sold Out" or "Backordered" on the merchants ordering pages to "In Stock". Another run would simply be a restock. It could show up tomorrow, next month or never. But it isn't something they will publicly announce like they do new products.

That and the individual Lions have an amazing amount of play.

Best bet to find out if there will be a restock is ask Bandai rep at comic-con in July. Also to those who want to see more Voltron go to Bandai web site and request a restock. The more requests the more likely we will see a restock. Otherwise, SOC's see a rerelease about every 4 to 6 years?

I think GX-71 will be re-issued. Bandai would want to make the most of the licensing agreement they have. That said, if it happens, it happens. But my preference has always for this version of "Voltron". Come on Bandai!
