Looks very minor. Get some tamiya acrylic paint and a fine tipped brush and touch it up. You are not going to get any help from Bandai, let alone a replacement part for the black lion.

Thanks for the tip! For the Tamiya acrylic paint, would you recommend glossy for this particular area? Or flat? If gloss, the only color I see working would be 'X-11 Chrome Silver' -- seen here: www.tamiya.com/english/products/list/acrylic_gloss/kit81001.htm

Went to put my GX-71 back in the box because of a move and the legs on blue and yellow are tarnishing 0_0 its coming off with a cloth but needs a lot of work, any easy way to remove it like on silverware without affecting the chrome? Wait what? The metal chrome legs are tarnishing? Now I need to check my sets. Toy maintenance is becoming almost as regular as playing or posing a toy these days.

Get one of each in mini sizes (10ml) and see which matches better. Try it on a piece of paper and put it next to the figure. Acrylic is water based so they are removable with either rubbing alcohol or acrylic thinner.

I used automotive chrome polish on my GX-04S’ legs which were tarnished really bad. Brought it back to its shiny state. Do you have a brand you can recommend? Yea on both the legs, not sure what is causing it but this has been in my detolf since release. hmmm thats really weird man, mine is inside its box within another box and our summer is not like yours it can get to 125 fahrenheit (52 celsius) easily lol
im not sure if the GX-71 have the same chrome that the GX-04S have, but i used something they use on silver utensils when the GX-04S limbs became very yellowish, it worked really good on it

Try it on a piece of paper and put it next to the figure. Acrylic is water based so they are removable with either rubbing alcohol or acrylic thinner. Perfect, thanks so much! I've found a local hobby shop that has both colors, so I'll give this a try tonite. Lastly, with acrylics will I need to use any sort of sealant or clear coat? Sorry for the million questions...while I'm a toy collector, I've never had to do repair work before.

One of this days, I'll copy one of the poses you made together with the lions!
To be honest, your pic eventually got me and inspired me to get a 2nd Voltron

So the X-11 Tamiya acrylic paint was a perfect match in terms of color -- but I'm unhappy with the final result. It looks like a big blotch of paint that doesn't even really blend in with it's surroundings -- and again, perhaps this is part of my not being an expert at painting model kits or toy repair... -_- It's deflating that a figure of this caliber had to come fresh out of the box with such an unsightly blemish.

Just remove it and try again. Acrylic is easy to remove. Thin the paint and stir well. Dab just enough to cover the spot once and do not touch again. Let it dry. Acrylic dries in about 10 minutes. Apply another coat if needed. You are not going to get factory results. For that you you will need an airbrush or a tamiya synthetic lacquer spray can. Not to mention stripping the paint and sanding, priming and multiple thin coats of paint. This is touch up work. If done right it can look good enough.

SOC robots are not cheap toys , they are high class collectibles for us. If you want your robots still look like new after several years, you have to keep them in dry and cool conditions. If you live in coastal or humid areas, I strongly recommend you buy a dehumidifier, the best humidity for conservation is 30-55%, cuz the mould will grow very fast above 60%. And you also don't try to keep them on the top floor or loft, the heat from sunshine will go through roof and destroy you toys.

I literally have that spot now looking like it came from the factory without ever having a blemish on that area Thanks again for the tips, guys!
