Never say never. Bandai knows this guy is in high demand, seeing as voltron bday just passed, I wouldn't be surprised if we get one sooner or later. But I don't think there will ever be one with part swapping(simply because the lion limbs are diecast and a huge part of the figure).

Yeah. I am probably never going to get this guy for a looooooooong time. I recommend you at least do your part in saving for it. So you will be ready when it becomes available.

Got mine today as well! Finally upgrading my trendmasters I’ve had since I was a kid (note the 29.99 TRU price tags). My son and I have beat the hell out of it but still going strong This one will be handled with more care! Thanks to everyone who posted when some went on sale!

I may actually be more impressed that you still have the Trendmasters box in such good shape

It's been a loooong time since I posted, really I think it's been 6 or 7 years. I got lucky with the BBTS pre-order while working a grave and just happen to go to their website. I am a long time CHogokin collector and had GX-71 initially pre-ordered, but then cancelled. I am not sure why i cancelled it, but sure regretted it when stock ran out and the street price exploded.
As a kid I didn't much care for the show, But, I LOVED the toy. I have always wanted a modern version, but I hated the Toynami version. I bought the Playmates version for my son and found it to be a great toy. I had all the Trendmaster versions (diecast, plastic, stealth, mini, etc), but let them go long ago.
I opened my precious cargo form BBTS last friday...oh my. I have/had many SOCs and I feel that this one is far and away the best (GX-72 is a close second) It tingles my nostalgia dingles like crazy. I swear it's heavier than the original, and the overall quality is top notch. Love all the accessories and stand.
Strangely I feel kinda guilty for dropping $450, am I crazy?

Strangely I feel kinda guilty for dropping $450, am I crazy? Not at all. It's worth whatever you're willing to pay. Personally, I start drawing the line north of the $300 range. The cost-to-satisfaction ratio stops making sense after that, and I've always felt better after selling the super-expensive pieces I've owned. I also have a thing against paying aftermarket mark-ups, especially when there are so many things I want that are being released now. With this one, Bandai will reissue it at some point. Just depends on whether you'd be happier with it right now or later for a couple hundred bucks less.

Strangely I feel kinda guilty for dropping $450, am I crazy? Nope, you shouldn't feel guilty until you're like me, buying Gravion, Golion, Daizyujin, and God Sigma in the same month

Saw this browsing through bluefin website. Could this be signs of a reissue(this was in the story of voltron mini pla article)in the works or GX-71R? EDIT: Nvm Apparently it looks like the SOC was the original blueprint for the Minipla and they went from that.

Interesting, I thought I saw a Japanese video showcasing Golion before it's release and one of the interviewers kept popping off one of the lions legs. Are the legs just on ball joints and all you would have to do is pop the legs off and install a chrome ball joint cover.

Diecast ball joints. I actually made a video a while ago showing you can take the legs off but honestly it doesn't look right without the legs imo(close to how the robot looked formed but skinny alittle).

Cool, weird that Bandai didn't include covers that would pop on the ball joints and fill those spaces in and get a more anime look. This is where a 3rd party could come in and make those, I'm sure there would be a ton of sales.

Now if Bandai would release SOC FA lions that looks exactly like the lions on the bottom of the page. That would be epic for me.

I agree there are so many compromises with Voltron that one side or the other will suffer. Every company focuses on the combined form that the individual parts suffer in their alternate forms to one degree or another. It's even worse when you deal with animal mech like Voltron where the lions should be sleek and svelte. I don't have GX-71 (wish I did) but I would be greatly interested if I did in a "FA" versions of the lions that don't combine bit look like they did in the anime. The lions could even be in another line just to make them cheaper to produce (all plastic) but still be in-scale with the SOC Voltron. As a added bonus each lion could come with covers like I said for the SOC for the arms and legs while the black lion could come with a one piece anime style wing.

Gokin is so...luscious! I cab't think of another way to describe it. My only gripe is the butt-doors are hard to pull back out and the fact that I have to wipe it down with a microfiber cloth after handling it.Seriously, the plating on the legs so wonderful.
