I still have this bot, but it's sealed. Most of my collection is sealed and it'll likely stay that way LOL.
Is this figure really that bad? I know it's a major step back from GX-71, but does it feel premium?

The original was mine back in 1993. Had my mom glued to the phone and call a radio station to win a free Megazord (sweepstakes). They were that popular, but sadly we never won. I do have the GX-72 in a Gem mint box sealed. Which is why I will never sell it. It is the Japanese version

what are you talking about !
the figure is an amazing release, its the best figure you can buy for Daizyujin if i remember correctly it won Toy of the year right here in RJ
sure the articulation is could be better but they were thinking ahead with the GX-78 Dragon Caesar & GX-85 King Brachion, if they gave it a wider range of articulation it wont be able to hold that weight
in my opinion the only problem this figure have is that it was released right after the GX-71, and people had very high hopes for it thats it
i highly recommend you at least take it out of the box and enjoy it then put it back, other wise you will feel like you are collecting expensive boxes

My entire bot collection looks like a library of some sorts. About 95 percent of them can easily be graded 10 mint! The only one with flaws is of course my GX-71. I have metal builds, hi-metals, Arcadias, SOCs, and MP TF figures in minty boxes. I'm very tempted in getting the Dragonzord, but I've heard that it's as flimsy as the Mega. Please tell me that's not true!

Please tell me that's not true! Dragonzord is a great looking gokin (not much articulation, but trust me it looks really nice). Id say thought dragonzord is the weakest of the set. If you want the whole set titanus is great in it's own way since it does everything titanus does in the show. You can't ask more.

I may consider it, but I am currently saving for the big boy coming out by the end of the year. I can't miss out on Voltes because I missed out on the smaller 40th anniversary figure. As long as I have the Megazord, I should be fine. I hope The dragonzord was my favorite toy I didn't own in 94. All I got was the head morpher green ranger.

actually the Dragon Zord is a rock solid figure, very limited articulation tho, it becomes a bit annoying when you combine it with Mega Zord but if you know which part to hold while the combination you will be fine, the Mega Zord is not flimsy by any means just make sure to adjust the figure the right way and it will stand just fine, even if you put it some light dynamic poses
i have all three and im happy with them best version of each robot not to mention its extremely heavy in hand

Are sprue marks noticeable on these chogokins? It is exactly what puts me off the Masterpiece Transformers line. Some of them are insanely well engineered, but the qc is almost always off with these toys.
I recently bought the MP-38+ and I was blown away how clean everything was. You would think a translucent MP Transformer would be sloppy as hell. It is a release I strongly recommend.
Anyway, as long as the Gx-78 is clean without any molding issues, I would totally jump in on it

Bandai does a good job with at least hiding them better than Hasbro/Takara. My MP-44 has noticeable sprues on the chrome pieces that really takes you out of any immersion of you owning a smaller scale version of the character in the show.

Funny you mentioned MP-44 because I sold that thing several months ago. It will never be "the" Optimus Prime. Overpriced and over engineered. Legs are too flimsy and there is no excuse for that considering the MP-10 was solid as heck. At least with the GX-72 you have that issue due to the heavy diecast metal. If the arms and elbows on GX-72 contained diecast ratchets, it would amazing enough for me to get two of them!

The proportions are sound in robot mode but the transformation kinda kills it for me especially if I paid full price. These latest MP figures are asking for more than SoC price in spite of some questionable decisions and QC. Hell,my voice box for said figure does not seem to finish its sentences at all.

There are rumors on Facebook of a hasbro diecast Megazord. This video popped up on YouTube with a flyer that looks the SOC GX-72 mold but has a hasbro logo. Is GX-72 getting a hasbro reissue or are they copying the mold? Or is this fake.?
Got more info after posting. Apparently it’s a French subscription exclusive. Not yet approved by hasbro. You build it in parts. It’s clearly the SOC mold though. So may not get licensed. But looks cool

my bad for bringing this old thread back
a good friend of mine is trying to get this figure, to my surprised the asking price for this is close to the very high end figures, in the range of Fewture and DX SOC lol
this is insane really i mean the figure was very available and it got two reissues along with a black color version
we should be careful not to miss anything in the future

And if those two get a reissue more...
