this looks pretty cool, are they doing a release for the original colors as well? I'd probably pick that one up. Yes. ICARUS plans to release one in the original colors. I have the 1st version and I definitely recommend picking one of these up. They are AWESOME.

Icarus Toys says late November for the regular version. Icarus Toys says a lot of things... did they actually specify a Year?

Icarus Toys says a lot of things... did they actually specify a Year? man you should be the last person to talk about it the figure is been released world wide without any problems even its not officially licensed i guess it will be the same for the regular color but when only god knows joking aside we never saw the production of the regular color and we didnt saw much of it like we did with this black version for me i hope they delay it abit more so i can get one

That was obvious from the moment they started showing pics of production parts. One way or another it was getting out there. Someone was going to end up with those parts and sell them. It's the nature of Hong Kong manufacturing. It just has a shaky distribution chain and some real customs risks to it should you get popped for a random "lets see whats in the box" check. Not that likely for individual single product imports. But a certainty for vendors like BBTS. Now the normal full color version? That one I have some major doubts about. They may pull it off, but like I said over on TFW2005 you can tell a few things from the order that they are producing these. Normally a manufacturer does the larger "regular version" of a product like this first, because it amortizes the costs of the tooling and development. But normally they are carrying up front legit loans to pay for that tooling etc. They pay for the tooling loans and make some decent profit with the main release, then they go back and do a recolor that is pure profit taking. (Yeah folks, that's what recolors are. The tools and dies are already paid for so any extra runs are money in the bank.) But where you see that pattern reverse is where finances are stretched really really thin and the vendor cannot get outside or legit financing and loans. In this case they almost certainly did the Black first because it was cheaper. It's a smaller "special" run. Plus it actually costs less at the factory as it has fewer production color changes. They are doing the Special run first in the hopes that it can generate enough revenue returns to get them over the financing hump to get at least a portion of the main run into the factory. In case nobody has figured it out, almost certainly most of the delays with these have been lack of funds holding up stages of production until they could beg borrow or steal to get to the next stage. (Hopefully they didn't get creative enough to borrow from the Hong Kong mob. That happened to an associate of my old boss that we sometimes dealt with. Last I heard he was on the run under an assumed name, somewhere in Canada.) For the full color regular KOB? I'd call the odds 60/40. The only thing it has going for it is the tooling exists. So it's going to pass through hands to somebody who will eventually make use of it for something somewhere. I'm just not sure that Icarus has the backend financing to release it. They may end up handing off the tooling to whoever comes next. (Just as they got it).

Very interesting!! Thanks for sharing this knowledge. I've been messaging w Icarus and they told there were 1000 made, they kept 20 for themselves and are already "sold out". I would imagine and hope we'll get the KOB 2.0 in the next 12-18 months. Who knows though

They don't actually look in every box unless the drug sniffing dogs get curious. Since the US does not impose import taxes the way many nations do, they don't overly scrutinize the shipping papers much either. At least for small order private individual improt items. A vendor such as BBTS or similar will get checked. The issue is mainly risk. Because its a trademark fraud customs can and will seize and destroy it if they happen to discover it, and you have no recourse. I'm pretty sure that no HK vendor will re-imburse or refund you for product seized by customs. What I said was don't spend more for this thing than you are prepared to lose, because you will have no safety net.

This looks pretty great. Just a tad too expensive for my taste. $250 shipped and maybe I'd jump on it.

I'm looking forward to seeing Dancouga next to DV. I think they'll compliment each other well. Just waiting on the Dancouga R to release.

This looks completely awesome. It's cool that WEP approved the licensing. This really is a standout piece deserving of the name "Voltron".
